Chapter nine.
I wanted to let my anger out, manifest it in a bigger and wilder way but something kept pushing me back. It's like I'm trying to cross a certain boundary but some forces keeps pulling me back.
" Rose! " I heard Sabrina's voice from behind me as I lounged towards Carl. Before I could hit him, I felt myself being lifted up and getting dumped from Jeffery's arms onto the ground. Sabrina runs up to shield me from him, his eyes throwing daggers at me.
He walks back to Carl who was dusting his bare upper chest. He had a messed up look on his face as he scowled hard at me. Sabrina's hand circled around my wrist and she pulled me away, my face turned back to watch Carl as I followed her, brows furrowed at him.
Sabrina pushed the door to her house open and let us inside. Once in, she let go of my hand and started checking me out, as if looking for traces of wounds or something. After her examining, she faces me with both hands on my shoulders and said with concern " are you hurt? "
" Hurt?! I think the rightful owner of that question is that scumbag Carl. You see what I did to him didn't you? "
I saw the smile that crept onto her lips and I knew she mocked me but I laughed anyway.
" Anyways, that wasn't cool, Rose, " she said, letting go of me " I mean fighting with Carl? "
" Yes and I'll beat his sorry ass one day, " I protested, sitting down on the closest table " he should wait till I shift into my wolf "
Sabrina shakes her head, walking to me and said " I wonder what happened between you two. I thought you guys used to be friends "
" Friends? We only kept each other company because my parents weren't always around and his were always too busy to take care of him! " I replied angrily.
" Okay calm down, Rose "
I took in a sharp breath and let out a long one, trying to calm myself.
" You know where we need to be soon "
" Where? " Just after I asked, I remembered what she'd told me about last night, about some show happening in the yellow stone pack today. The thought of that just boosted my energy, gave me back the ones I wasted on Carl and his stupid friend.
" Hopefully, I'd find my mate today " sabrina said, winking at me before dashing into her room. I followed her in. " You ready? "
" Yeah but we'll need to be fast, " I replied " I need to go help mom at the clinic later "
" Yeah, yeah but there aren't wounded wolves anymore "
" That plus the Alpha would be returning today. We don't wanna get into any troubles today "
" Noted! I need to get some bread to Robin at the pack house first "
I chuckled lightly and replied " your brother sure eats a lot of bread, sabrina "
" I know right? " She makes the tired face before walking back out and into the kitchen. She prepared a basket of bread before we both went off to see her younger brother, Robin who worked with the blacksmith.
Robin was a sixteen year old boy who already found his wolf a few weeks after he turned sixteen. He was awfully cute with his brown curly hair which he took after their mother, with a tall wide body for his age. He was relatively taller and bigger than his sister and I, the perks of being a werewolf. During the last summer fall, I'd actually thought I liked him specially, especially when I see him smile with the hollow dimple on his right cheek but it turned out I was just being . . . . . . . .. what's the word? Stupid perhaps?
Sabrina and I walked over to his place of work to find him beating up some hot red iron into pots. He smiles instantly as he saw us.
" Hey lovely women " he called.
" Hey bread eater, " Sabrina called back, causing me to snicker silently " I brought you some " she dumped the basket on the table in front of him.
" Later, Rob " I said with a hand wave, pulling Sabrina back to me.
" Hey where are you two going? " He asked as we began to retreat.
" Nowhere! " Sabrina yelled back before we ran into the woods. Robin would rat us out if he knew where we were going. He may be all grown up and big but he's still a sixteen year old.
The yellow stone pack were known to be one of the most festive packs around. They were richer and better in so many ways than us and entering the city set off an excitement inside me. Sabrina and I ran through the woods, making jokes and being careful not to drag the attentions of the forest's wilder animals to us as we went. The last thing I wanted was a jaguar trying to eat us. Sabrina could always escape in her wolf form while the jaguar feeds on me for his lunch because I couldn't go any faster in my human legs. That's not meant to be funny though.
We came out in front of the pack's tall gates. We literally snuck in unnoticed through the crowded people.
