So after talking to Kit about a ton of random subjects for an hour he offered to give me a tour of the small town of Bitterbrook. After a quick shower and putting the only clothes I brought with me back on, which just happen to be the ones from yesterday, I walked out of my motel room and made my way to the lobby where Kit said he'd be waiting for me.
Once in the lobby I decided to tell Daisy the desk lady if it'd be ok for me to turn in the key later today as I left my half empty backpack laying on the bed. I walked up to the front desk to see that Daisy isn't there so I ring the bell on the desk and after a few minutes she comes out holding a stack of towels in her arms. " Oh good afternoon dear, I hope you slept well." She puts the towels down on her desk and gives me a genuine smile, such an improvement from last night. " uh hi, yes i did thank you. Uh, I was wondering if I could turn in the key later today as I wanna look around the town and I left my bag in the room." I ask. " Oh of course dear take your time, if you plan to stay any longer, I'll give you a few days free of charge. We don't get many visitors in our town so it's nice just to see a new face.'' She smiles again, this time a little brighter than her other one.
" That would be great, thank you, well I'll see you later then. Oh and sorry about my behavior yesterday I was exhausted and I'm not a fan of many people.'' I say attempting to give her more than a lopsided smile. " My name's Riley by the way." She smiles at this. " It's nice to meet you Riley, I'm Daisy. I'll see you later and we can talk more, have a nice day dear." I already knew her name thanks to Kit so I just smile and say a small goodbye before turning and heading to the exit where Kit is leaning against the wall with a grin plastered on his face, I never understood how ghosts just don't fall through walls, but the closer I looked the more I saw that he's a few meters off the wall so maybe that's why.
" oh Riley, my new friend, we need to get you some new clothes." he says with a scrunched up face. " Hey don't judge buddy, this is all I brought with me." I say walking past him and through the door. " Hey, no judgment, I was just making an observation. So I would say first stop by the clothing stores but you kinda need money for that so..." he says as he follows me outside, it's sunny and warm. I have to shield my eyes because it's so bright. " uh ha I know exactly where to go first, ohhh you're so gonna love this." he says, clapping his hands, which makes no sound. " I have a feeling I'm not.'' I say following him further into the small and seemingly deserted town of Bitterbrook, it's so quiet here. I'd say it's nice but silence is never good.

Kit finally stops at a small building, it looks to be an art shop, cool. " uh here we are, come on." Kit says in an attempt to grab my hand, surprisingly it works. Don't get me wrong, I've been touched by a ghost before but most times it's only because they're extremely angry and end up hurting me. I have tons of scars from those situations. " What is this place?" I say once we're inside the shop. " This is Reed's art supplies." a female says coming out of what seems to be a storage room, she looks to be about thirty. " Hi there, I'm Clark Reed. This is my shop. What can I do for you?" the lady Clark says coming toward me with her hand outstretched for me to shake, I do as I say. " uh hi I'm Riley, you have a nice shop here." Clark smiles. " Well thank you Riley, so what brings you here." she says as her eyes flicker towards Kit, huh strange. " She's looking for a job." Kit says
" Well as much as it is nice to meet you Clark, I don't wish to be a curiosity that someone wants to pursue, I came here to get away from that." I say getting a little defensive. " I'm sorry Riley I didn't mean to upset you, I'll drop my curiosity of you if you agree to work for me, I can even provide you with living quarters as I have an old house that I no longer wish to live in alone." Clark puts up her hands in surrender and gives a small apologetic smile." I'm sorry you seem really nice. It's just that I've spent all of my life locked away and constantly being poked and prodded, so forgive me for being defensive. and as strange and sudden as your offer is I'd happily take it as i have no money and need a place to stay for a bit. some place other then that grungy and plain motel." I say giving what I hope is a genuine smile. " I'm not sure if that's a metaphor or not but I know when not to push so I'll let you adjust for a bit but mark my words Riley we will become best friends," she says with a joyful laugh, I and Kit join in.
" So it's settled then, um well I'll let you finish your town tour with Kit and I'll meet you at the house before sundown. Kit knows where it is, oh and don't worry about clothes for the time being I'm sure I have something you can borrow." Clark says as she shoos us out of the shop, but before i leave i have the sudden realization that clark mentioned knowing the existence of kit. so i ask " wait hold up how is it that you know the existence of kit, can you see and hear him too?" clark looks at me with admiration and says" no i can't see kit, i can only sense where he is and i can occasionally hear him. you see like my mother and hers, i'm a medium. and am incredibly fascinated by you as you can see and hear him. i'll let you finish your tour and if your alright with it i'd love to talk more about it at home." my mouth drops open and all i can do is nod my head yes, than I say a quick thank you and we wave goodbye, as Kit leads the way through the rest of town. I debate on wether I should stay but again what other choice do I have, plus its quiet and as much as that terrifies me it's nice to be able not to hear any one's thoughts but my own and a hand full of others. I plan to make it my mission to undercover how they are blocking their thoughts from me as it's weird and very unnerving after years of hearing everything from everyone.
