Jane and Simon appeared in front of them and told them to follow them in a no nonsense tone.
Edward appeared afraid of both Simon and Jane, he had experienced Jane's ability first hand, and even though it was weakened he wanted to avoid feeling it again, he had also learned about how strong Simon was and how cleverly he used his gift to his advantage.
Even Alice looked anxious and scared, she had smiled at the two and had received no response other than Simon shaking his head meaning that situation had escalated alot and was not going to be handled easily.
They could only comply and go with them, taking an elevator down to an underground complex. As they pass a receptionist who was present there and welcomes them.
"Are you a human?" Bella asks as her curiosity took priority over the awkward situation they were in.
"I am." She looks at Bella weirdly. "Though I wish to become a vampire soon."
Before the conversation can go. on they enter the Volturi chamber. As they enter Alec compliments his sister for being asked to fetch one and bringing back two and a half.
Everyone in the room realize that Bella is obviously a problem. She is a human but knows too much about them.
Aro takes Edward's hand and uses his ability, which allows him to read others mind through physical contact. His face soon changes into an intrigued expression.
"My dear, you have some excellent self control it is not something that is obtained easily especially when dealing with you blood singer." Aro is complements Edward's self-control.
To which Edward just nods, he remembers how hard it had been for him to control himself, to not feed on Bella.
Aro approaches Bella and requests her hand, "Would you do me the honor?"
Bella complies. Aro tires to read her mind but can see nothing. He's clearly frustrated by this.
"Jane, to try your gift on the human."
Edward tries to intervene but Simon was quicker and smashes Edwards head into the wall making it clear that no interruptions are desired.
"Thank you Simon." Aro says without taking his eyes off Bella.
"This may hurt, just a little," Jane says knowingly. However, she finds, to her dismay, that she can't affect Bella either.
Aro bursts into a laugh and wonders what to do with Bella. "What a wonderful gift you have. My dear, I have not seen such strong gift since Jane and Alec. Now what should be done to you?"
Marcus intervenes, "Aro. you already know what to do."
Caius also points out the problem, "the human knows too much about the vampire world and is a liability."
Aro sighs and agrees, no matter how good her ability is it is not worth risking the vampire world. Aro summons Felix to kill Bella.
Edward fights to break out of Simon's grasp but is clearly no match for him.
Edward is put in the position of the heretic in the earlier tableau, about to be ripped apart by Aro and the rest of the Volturi, Bella screams for mercy and begs, "Kill me, not him."
"How extraordinary," says an astonished Aro, "You would give up your life for someone like us. A soulless monster."
Bella stares defiantly at Aro and tells him, "You don't know a thing about his soul."
Aro is both impressed and offended by her impertinence and moves in to slaughter her. "You poor little girl, you don't even realize how wrong you are. After all, only a soulless being can truly understand the soul."
Alice interrupts him just as Bella was about to be beheaded, she successfully prophesies to him that Bella will become a vampire; she's seen it in the future.
Aro takes her hand and sees Alice's vision of Bella and Edward running through Sylvan Glen. Bella's eyes are the amber color of a vampire, and her skin sparkles.
"I'll change her myself," says Alice.
"Your gifts will make an intriguing immortal," says Aro to Bella.
As Bella, Edward, and Alice leave, Caius warns them to follow through on their promises as the Volturi do not give second chances.
As they are led to the dungeons where other Cullen's are they hear a child's scream which renders Bella unconscious.
Edward panics, but Carlisle had already gotten to them and checks Bella. He reassures Edward that she is just exhausted and asleep.
"The friendship with Volturi has only gotten you some time to make your mistakes right. There will be no second time, old friend." Simon passes Aro's message to Carlisle, who understands that the little favour he had was lost and the Volturi would now be neutral towards them.
Jasper nods towards Simon thankfully who just shrugs indicating that he didn't do anything.
They Cullen's get ready to leave. Simon and Jane bid their farewell to Alice and Jasper with a warning not to do anything stupid because that would be the death of them.
