Chereads / Build a Drug Empire / Chapter 52 - Favor

Chapter 52 - Favor

The woman was in her early thirties with short black hair, and she wore a suit that despite being professional, still showed off her feminine curves and charm.

Her eyes shot Caesar a look, gazing at him as if she was trying to discern his whole life. It was clear to her that Caesar was a VIP of the black market, but how did he do it? Being such a young man too.

The old man saw the look in the woman's eyes and thought that she was angry at Caesar.

"Don't worry, miss. I will make sure this young brat won't be able to return here ever again."

This is perfect, the old man thought. He would use this opportunity to curry favor with the owner of this hospital. Who knows, maybe he could even get promoted.

"Shut up."

But her cold and sharp response shocked the old man. She was looking directly at him, as if she felt that he was the most annoying person on the planet.

"Is this how you treat your patients? Do you even know who you are dealing with?" the woman reprimanded.

"You…you are the owner of this hospital, miss Majin."

"Not me. Do you know who this person is?" Majin said as she pointed at Caesar.

The old man was confused. Was this kid supposed to be someone? Was he her kid?

"This is a man with money and power. He is someone that you are lucky to even breathe the same air as him. And you dare treat him that way?"

The old balding man was speechless. He was going to make some kind of excuse saying that Caesar was the one who started it, but he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his cheeks.

SLAP

Majin's slap resounded through the reception area where a lot of doctors and nurses witnessed the whole thing. They just saw their boss get slapped by his boss.

"I don't ever want to see your face ever again. Mark this on your bald head. You. Are. Fired."

As soon as he heard that, the old man's face froze and almost all of the very last few strands of his hair fell out.

"I'm sorry about that. My name is Majin Dee, a businesswoman and a mogul," she introduced herself to Caesar. "May I know the identity of the man who was able to become a VIP of the black market?"

"I'm surprised that a noble woman like you knows about the black market."

"Of course I know," Majin said as she took out something from her small black bag. What she grasped in her hands was a thin violet card, similar to the one in Caesar's hands. "I'm also a VIP."

Caesar didn't think he would meet a fellow VIP here in this hospital.

"I know what you're thinking. But this hospital is just a way to lessen my taxes. My businesses are too taxed in this economy, you see."

"And what is your business?"

"You know, it's rude to ask someone when you haven't even answered my question."

"Caesar, drug dealer."

Majin was surprised, but it was not because she was against the use and trade of drugs. She was surprised because of how blunt he was. Normally, drug dealers wouldn't announce their job this easily.

"Drug dealer. That's good. That means we don't have conflicting interests. My business is in the…social services"

There was no way that a VIP of the black market would just be in normal social services. But it looked like she was not willing to disclose this information, so Caesar wouldn't pry.

"Anyway, I'm sorry about how you were treated here. I must pay you back."

Majin then looked around the room and just casually said, "Do you want this hospital?"

"Are you giving it to me?"

A hospital of this size would be worth about 100 million Parou, with the construction costs, employment, and talents pooled together. This was definitely not a small amount of money.

"Yes. Do you want it?" she said as if she was just giving Caesar a candy that she just had an extra piece. It wasn't as if she was offering to give Caesar 100 million Parou for nothing.

Anyone would immediately say yes. This was an offer that had no downsides. Who would turn down free money? 100 million Parou! That was enough money to retire and buy and own an island and fill it with treasures, and you would still have 50 million left over.

But Caesar was no ordinary person. He could earn that 100 million Parou in ten days.

"No."

Majin smiled, as if she already expected this result. She could see an ambitious glint in Caesar's eyes, indicative of someone who would eventually stand at the top of the world.

"Smart decision. I hate being in debt."

Instead of letting Majin pay off her apology, Caesar decided to let it simmer. By refusing this expensive gift, Caesar was setting himself up to ask for a favor later–one that was much more expensive than this hospital.

"You wouldn't be tempted by this money. I'm sure you can earn that much by yourself, can't you?"

"Yes I can," Caesar replied with complete honesty and confidence.

"Well, I have some more things to do, so I'll see you later. And you!" Majin said as she pointed at one doctor, the doctor that ran away from Rola and Ybarra.

"Make sure he gets anything he wants, alright?"

The doctor couldn't help but repeatedly nod his head. He was only a lowly doctor who was replaceable to a multi-million mogul like Majin.

"Bye Caesar," Majin waved at him.

And just like how fast she came, Majin left like a ghost. Caesar was left alone with the doctor who was shivering as he looked down at Caesar's feet. Why wouldn't he? If Caesar wanted, he could fire him.

"I'll make sure that Ybarra gets treated as soon as possible!" the doctor shouted.

Caesar smiled.

"No need. I have something better planned."

"This is all my fault…this is all my fault…" Vrija paced back and forth as she faced the mini-chapel that was built right into the hospital.

She came here for peace, but she couldn't help but feel guilty. Her foster mother, Theresa, always told her to enter a church and pray for her worries, but she didn't even have the courage to enter.

She was afraid that she would burn as soon as she entered. She was a sinner!

"Praying won't do you any good," Caesar said, surprising Vrija.

"You scared me!"

Caesar leaned against the pillar of the chapel and walked over towards the anxious Vrija.

"Tell me, why are you feeling guilty?"

Vrija did not trust Caesar, but her desire to let out her feelings into someone and confide in someone was stronger than her distrust.

"I killed Ybarra!"

"He's not dead, at least not yet."

"I was afraid that time, being under Zaturn's prison. I wanted to get out. I wanted to run away, but I couldn't. I was afraid that everyone abandoned me, so I…I"

Caesar looked at her with pity and understanding, all so that she would subconsciously build her trust in him.

"I sold them out! I offered to give up my friends and my family, so that I wouldn't be killed, or worse, get my dignity taken away from me!"

Vrija cried. The guilt bubbling under her consciousness burst out into an emotional release. Burying the guilt in her heart made it even worse, and having Caesar listen to her was a relief that she needed.

But her mistake was trusting Caesar.

"So, you feel guilty. I have a way for you to relieve that guilt. I have a way for you to repay your debt to the family you have betrayed."

Vrija, while emotionally compromised, looked up at Caesar and felt that his words were comforting, like he would be able to help her.

"You have to devote yourself to supporting your family. You have to heal the wounds that you have caused."

Vrija wiped her tears, no longer running. Her eyes were serious, devoted, as if she agreed with Caesar. She found the solution that she wanted.

Caesar smiled as he saw that his words finally hit home. He took out a white pill from his pocket.

"You know about Miracle drugs, right?"

Vrija looked at the snowy white pill held together by Caesar's two fingers. It looked soft and chewy, like marshmallows. She didn't know why, but she felt like she wanted to eat it.

"This Miracle drug will help you heal anyone you want. You can heal your family using your own creations. You can heal Ybarra. And it wouldn't stop there. You can heal anyone that gets hurt and prevent this situation from happening ever again."

The prospect of healing people was a tempting offer for Vrija.

"You will be helpful. You will be wanted. You will be important."

Vrija wanted it. She wanted it so bad. She would do anything to get it at any cost.

Vrija took the Miracle drug in Caesar's hands, making a deal with the devil right in front of the church.
