What Caesar was seeing right now was out of the realms of physics. He could not explain the mechanics of how Zaturn was able to send Ybarra with only a screech.
His only guess came from the new stat in the status bar that he saw in Zaturn's head.
[Miracle Power: 75]
This seemed to pertain to Zaturn's strange power. One of Caesar's guess was that it was similar to the strength stat. In the strength stat, the higher the number was, the stronger the person was.
Miracle Power could mean that it was the power of his strange skill called Sonic Burst. He guessed that the higher the miracle power, the stronger their skill was.
Caesar still had a lot of questions. How does one get this kind of power? Could it be trained just like how we can train muscles? Can they have two different powers?
Ybarra's fear of Zaturn now seemed more and more reasonable. There was no way that he could counter-attack that was as fast as sound and almost invisible.
"Ahem... because of you, I had to strain my throat." Zaturn said, massaging his adam's apple.
"Wow. How did you do that?"
Zaturn turned his head to look at who asked him this question. He was expecting this group to feel fear and trepidation, but a teenager just asked him something with a happy curious tone.
It was Caesar, clapping his hands as if this was a show.
Even Rola was surprised to see Caesar acting casual. She thought that he would see the difference in power between them and decide not to go against the Capo gang.
"And who are you. You're a new face." Zaturn asked, scrutinizing Caesar's face. He didn't know him.
"I'm just a wandering merchant. But do all of your little friends in your gang have powers like that, or are you just special?' Caesar asked with pure curiosity.
Rola and the rest of the people in the room froze when they heard Caesar's words. It seemed like he was underestimating the Capo gang addressing them as his little friends.
"Look at this cute new guy, where did you find him."
But contrary to their expectations, Zaturn seemed amused by Caesar. He didn't feel threatened at all. Why would he? From his eyes alone, he could see that Caesar was the weakest out of everyone here.
He merely passed Caesar's insulting words as a naïve babbling of a child who didn't know the way of the world.
After that, Zaturn ignored Caesar and turned to face Rola again.
"I am not the only one with miracle powers. You know that don't you, Rola. You know what will happen if you disappoint us," he said with a smile.
Although his tone between Rola and Caesar wasn't that much different, his words with Rola had a sinister undertone.
Rola knew that the Capo gang's squad of super-powered soldiers would come knocking at their door. At that point, their deaths were inevitable. They didn't even need to do that; the job could still be done by one super-powered man. But they would still send in a battalion as a show of power.
That was the power of the Miracled. They were people blessed with magic and powers superseding physical and scientific logic.
The reason why they were called Miracled was because they acquired this power through consuming something called the Miracle Drug.
No one knew how they were produced and no knows who produces them, but acquiring just a single Miracle Drug could cost 10,000,000 coins and even 1 Billion coins depending on the rarity of the power.
But even if you had the money to pay for it, you cannot just simply buy it like going through a grocery store. No. you would need to find the right black market dealer and make sure that you have an organization backing you.
Why was that? It's because without an established org supporting you, black market dealers would just laugh at you, or worse, you would be beaten or killed just for knowing about the black market.
"Hey new kid. Did you know this story? Someone here tried to become a Miracled like me. But they ended up with nothing but shame, am I right, Rola?" Zaturn ridiculed.
Rola turned her head away in shame.
With the Capo gang's power, Rola knew she needed to become a Miracled for self-defense. So, she saved up and investigated where to buy one. She spent a lot of time buttering up tight-lipped informants just to get confirmation that the black market existed.
But even after entering the black market, she ended up with less than she had before. All her hard-earned money was stolen. That was still considered lucky.
"Hoh? That's interesting," said Caesar with a sly smile on his face.
"You could have just accepted our offer and become a part of our gang. We would have given you a Miracle Drug for free!"
"Yeah, why didn't you?" Caesar piled on. He truly was like a spectator watching an entertaining story.
"Instead, you refused. Then you had the audacity to borrow money, and for what? You wanted to buy a house so that you could 'let your fellow orphans live better'. Hey kid, you got out of that orphanage, why care about them?"
Caesar shook his head. For such a useless dream, Rola and her lackies trapped themselves in a corner hunted by raid dogs. She should have known better than be in debt to these people.
"And you were so close too. You would have paid off your debt, but you got careless. You let some unknown addict fill our customers with this!" Zaturn said as he took something out of his pockets.
With his anger, Zaturn crushed the thing in his hands, exploding fine red powder everywhere.
"We'll get the money to you tomorrow. We can sell more tomorrow," Mitre said.
Zaturn shook his head while laughing. "You idiots. This thing. This Joy is something that has never been seen before. It's more addicting, more tempting, and more profitable. This new organization will tear our business apart! And you let him!"
Zaturn didn't know it, but the person he was talking about was only a few feet away from him.
"This drug will poison the minds of our customers. No, it already has. Nobody will buy our Joy anymore!"
Mitre was shocked. He didn't think that the situation was this serious. If they can't sell Joy, then the Capo gang's business will suffer. And who will they blame for this? Them.
He didn't want the battalion to kill him and his friends. But what could he do?
Maybe he could sell out Caesar to appease the Capo gang. Rola probably already thought of this, so he looked towards her. However, she looked like she had no intention of doing so.
She wasn't even looking at Caesar, as if he just didn't exist. His face was full of confusion. She was willing to sacrifice them just to keep Caesar's secret?
"We'll give the money to you either way. We can pay off our debt without selling the Joy," Rola said while using the chair to stand up.
"HAHAHAHA! *They jusssst don't understandddd!*" he sang again.
"Do you think we'll let you go after that? We never planned to do that from the beginning. And certainly not now when you destroyed our business!"
Mitre almost burst in anger. They chased people down every night to sell Joy, they fought thieves, and they sold their morality by selling something that would destroy the lives of others.
But he endured. So that one day, they could all go back to the orphanage rich and wealthy. Now, that can't happen. They never intended for that to happen.
Everyone in their group felt despair, all but Rola. To some extent, she expected this. She racked her brains to get out of this situation, but there was no way out.
She couldn't betray Caesar. He was also from the orphanage, which meant that he was family. In her mind, Caesar was also forced to work for some organization to sell this pure Joy.
She couldn't do that. She wouldn't. But that was the only way out of this situation.
"Or, you could pay it through something else. I noticed your beauty quite a while back," Zaturn said, looking at Rola's body from her head to toe.
Rola's shirt was soaked in beer, showing her beautiful skin. He could even see her bra, which was hiding a supple and bountiful breast.
"Many of our patrons would like a taste," he said as he approached her and touched her face. She turned her head away and kept up her courageous façade.
Maybe this was the only way. At least her family would be safe.
"Oh, are you talking about my product?" Caesar said casually.
Zaturn turned around and saw Caesar bent down, swiping his hand across the floor where the pure Joy was scattered.
"Yeah, this is mine." He claimed it himself.
Everyone was surprised, even Zaturn. Rola didn't understand why Caesar would purposefully expose himself. If he had just stayed quiet, he would have lived.
"What did you say? This is yours?" Zaturn asked, slowly walking towards Caesar. His slightly curly hair obscured almost half of his face.
"That's right. I'm coming to dismantle this Joy business, if you can even call it that. But I don't have to tell you that. I'm sure you know; your product is trash, plain and simple."
Zaturn's head was filled with a red tint. He was fuming. How could this kid disrespect him like that.
"Oh, Rola. You didn't have to become a Miracled to beat up a guy like this. All you had to do was…"
Zaturn looked down at Caesar and saw his figure blur. He was being attacked! He subconsciously activated his Miracle Power, gathering the sonic attack in his mouth.
