What defines good from evil? Is it that the good save people and evil kill? What makes good, good? The fact we call it good? The fact we call it evil? Is it the side we believe in that is considered good? The side we refuse considered evil? What makes anyone sure that evil is evil and good is good? What defines the belief of any of it?
Zero stood on the edge of the building, clinging to the sidewall that was closer to him as his toes hung from the edge.
'Mission failed; remote override failed. Self override required. 12 seconds remaining.' Zero's mask beeped as the small message showed in the corner of his mask. Zero had never seen a self override command before, but he had trained for it. He had served the Chairman all his life, but what he asked of Zero was new. Zero glanced at Raven, well aware that Raven was not getting the same message as he. Zero couldn't see Raven's face, his mask covered his expression fully. But Zero could tell the doubt and confusion from his body language as he slowly backed up, not willing to break his command but not willing to let Zero follow.
"9577, get away from the wall. We are requested to go back to the tower." Raven's words were formal, yet urgent.
"I have a different order, 9576." Zero was stiff as he spoke, looking down at the concrete ground that was 12 stories away. Raven was frozen, they never had different orders. Something was wrong, more wrong than it had ever been.
'7 seconds remaining. Follow order Self Override.' An updated message appeared in front of Zero's view as he edge closer to the opening.
"9577, something is wrong. Step away from the edge." Raven was closer, but not close enough.
"9577 has his orders, follow yours 9576." Hardhead snapped as he appeared from a doorway, gasping for air as he wiped away the sweat from his bald head. Raven was shocked, Zero was conflicted.
Had Zero messed up and made the Chairman mad? Did it have to do with the mission?
Zero looked down once more, he had to follow the orders. He looked at Raven as he slightly nodded before stepping out of the large shattered window. His body was falling, his mind was racing. He was falling to his death, and he was scared. The mission wasn't a fail, at least, Zero didn't think so. The heroes were on their tails, but not to the point of Self Override.
Seconds passed, and Zero was still in the air. It was relaxing at first, he felt his whole body shiver as a cold wind blew through his close and mangled his hair. His mask kept him from breathing in the hair as the filter shut down from trying to work too fast, but Zero didn't notice, he didn't have time. The ground was like water as Zero's body smacked into it. Crunching and snapping filled the hair as Zero's head snapped back before it smacked the concrete. His body felt like the wind was knocked out like his lungs were being chopped in half as his limbs curled as they met the concrete ground. Zero felt all of it at once, he felt the pain and stress, the confusion and understanding. He knew he wouldn't survive once he hit the ground, but he didn't know he would still be alive to feel himself die. Zero blinked, but it felt like slow motion as he tried to breathe.
'ERROR, ERROR. Body vitals dropping. System shut down has been remotely activated- please standby.' Zero watched his screen as the Chairman disabled his mask remotely, getting rid of any online trace. After one second of being on the ground, like a fast blink. Zero was dead. His body lay on the ground, unmoving and bloody. His bones were crushed as well as his skull. His limp head lay to the side as he stared at nothing particular. His eyes were still open as his mouth stayed agape, his eyes seeming to stare through the cracks of his screen into the bright day, like a boy peeking through a fence. He would be on the news the next day as another Villain taken down. It was normal in Oppa City, after all; Heroes ruled the streets.
