Yang Ran turned around again with a dumbfounded look on her face.
This person, just what was he going to do to her? Just because she had decided to play along with him, it doesn't mean that he could easily bully her like this.
Yang Ran began to consider pulling a few tricks to escape from the young commander.
If she twisted his arms, throw an unexpected punch at his stomach, and swing a kick at his chest, she would have a good chance to make her escape.
Then, she would try to avoid this man again for as long as they were on this cruise.
She had escaped him once. Yang Ran believed that she could do it once again.
"Miss Yang, we haven't finished our talk yet," Qi Ming Wei continued.
A smile that did not reach her eyes appeared on her face. "But I don't have anything else to talk to you about." Her gaze shifted to the hand that was holding her wrist. "You should let me go before I start to scream."
Qi Ming Wei released her hand. Before she could walk away again, he then spoke, "I already helped you with your situation in the banquet hall. Shouldn't you do something to repay me?"
Yang Ran stopped on her track. She turned around slowly and flashed a seductive smile on her face. "And? How do you want me to repay you?" She stretched her arms and trailed her forefinger on the man's chest. "I don't suppose that you want me to pay with my body?"
Now that she had said those words out loud, Yang Ran began to ponder upon this idea.
Although she had already decided that she was not supposed to fool around before she find Mr. Huang, having some fun while she was on this cruise did not seem to be that bad.
After all, wasn't she on vacation?
Perhaps fooling around with the commander would help her with her boredom.
She did admire his good look and his body, didn't she?
Qi Ming Wei's expression changed the moment he heard her words.
During their previous encounter, Yang Ran always know how to behave. He would never have thought that this woman could pretend to be a seductress as well.
His eyes turned darker.
Qi Ming Wei put on a smile on his face and spoke, "That doesn't sound like a bad idea."
His answer startled her again. Yang Ran was definitely not expecting that the commander was going to play along.
Yang Ran stared at the young commander, wondering if her judgment about this man had been mistaken. Could it be that he was actually a wolf in a sheepskin all along?
It was said that Commander Qi was someone who loved his job as a soldier too much and had never given into temptation. What was going on with him now?
Of course, Qi Ming Wei was unaware of whatever was going on in Yang Ran's mind. What he had in mind was completely different than Yang Ran's.
"Miss Yang, you should know that without my protection, Mrs. Peng will come to harass you again," Qi Ming We spoke. "She loved her husband too much and would not tolerate anyone who would go after him. Why don't you stay beside me for as long as we're on this cruise?"
Yang Ran's expression shifted when she heard the commander's words. However, she was quick enough to compose herself before the commander would notice anything.
"What makes you think that I will need your protection?" Yang Ran turned until her body was facing the commander. Her arms crossed in front of her chest. "You said that I need to repay you. So, how will staying by your side help you?"
"President Liang seemed to believe that I have taken an interest in you," Qi Ming Wei said. "I planned to let him think that way. Miss Yang, why don't you help me this once?"
Yang Ran recalled the brief interaction with President Liang again.
"What's the deal with you and the President?" Yang Ran asked. "Why do you want to trick him into believing that you are interested in me? Aren't you working for the president?"
"Of course, I have my reason. Miss Yang, you don't have to concern yourself about this matter. Curiosity kills the cat. Don't you know about this? Knowing too much will be dangerous for you."
Yang Ran stared back at the commander for a long time.
She couldn't help but think that there was something wrong with this situation. However, she could not figure out what it was. From the beginning, Commander Qi has been uttering nothing but nonsense.
"What will I get if I agree to help you with this?"
"Miss Yang, aren't you supposed to do this to repay my help?"
"I would have to be really bored if I agree to repay your help with this favor."
"Mrs. Peng would not find trouble with you. Isn't that good enough?"
Yang Ran clicked her tongue. "It's not easy for her to find trouble with me. Just now, I didn't do anything to her just because we were at someone else's birthday party. Otherwise, I wouldn't be polite."
Qi Ming Wei laughed. It seemed that finding Yang Ran to help him with this matter would not be easy.
Initially, he was not planning to do this as well.
However, when he recalled the look on President Liang's face when he saw him and Yang Ran together... Qi Ming Wei thought that pretending that he was interested in Yang Ran sounded good as well.
Perhaps, the President would think that he was distracted and will lower his guard around him.
He wanted to know why the president had stopped him from investigating the cases in Capital City.
Since he had always suspected that Yang Ran was somehow related to those cases, perhaps, letting this girl stay close to the President would let him find some clues that he has been missing.
"Miss Yang, I worked for President Liang," Qi Ming Wei said. "If you stay with me, you might have the chance to meet and interact with the people from the upper class. Is this not good enough?"
Qi Ming Wei thought that this should be enough to tempt Yang Ran into playing along with him. She should want to have this chance as well. Otherwise, why would she be together with someone like Mr. Peng? Wasn't it to look for a chance to join the prestigious party on the cruise?
