Taking a deep breath, Yang Ran linked her hand with the commander's arms. Then, the two of them headed to the hall.
Security stopped them at the door. When they recognized the commander, security let him pass through the door. However, Yang Ran still had to go through a spot check.
Once security saw that her phone was switched off, Yang Ran was let into the hall.
At this time Yang Ran thought that it was fortunate that she had not brought over any weapons with her. Otherwise, it would be troublesome.
Yang Ran slid her phone back into her purse before turning to the commander. "Why do we need to turn off our phones?"
This would not be the type of gathering where one was required to ignore their phone and was encouraged to talk to strangers, right?
"They just did not want anyone to take any pictures."
The music blares in the hall.
In the center of the hall, a few people were seen dancing around happily with their partners. There were a few booths at the sides for the guests to sit down and chat.
A large buffet table was set in another corner.
As compared to last night, there were not many guests invited to this night's party.
Yang Ran followed the commander obediently and recognized a few prominent figures in the business world as well as in politics.
Last night, she was too busy trying to get away from Mrs. Peng that she did not have time to look around.
Yang had long suspected that there would be a lot of VVIP guests which was not on the list that Eric had obtained. It's just that... she had not expected that there would be this many.
The thought of what she could do with this information made her heart leap with joy.
If she was good enough, these people might as well turn into her client.
After the mansion where she had once lived was burned, she was indeed a little short of money.
If it was not for Eric's protection, it would be difficult for her to survive. She would have to accept a few S Class missions to get money and had to delay her plan to get her revenge.
Now that she had found out the people who had betrayed her and the organization, she indeed had some time to take a few missions. Perhaps, he could find out something about the map and Uncle Huang while doing her job.
Looking at the group of people made her understand why she needed to turn off her phone. The group of people was afraid that someone might snap a few pictures of them together and send them over to the press.
Yang Ran continued to sweep her gaze around the hall. In no time, she found President Liang standing in the quiet corner of the room accompanied by his wife and a few businessmen.
She raised her head and looked at the tall man beside her. "Are you not going over to the president?"
"Let's wait for a while longer." Qi Ming Wei flashed her a smile.
Looking at the way he acted made her wonder just what was this man planning to do. Fortunately, she was only required to accompany him for just this night.
Yang Ran was already planning to meet someone at this party and play around.
Just then, Yang Ran noticed a young boy walking over in their direction. She had seen him before and quickly recognized him as the president's eldest son.
"I did not think that you would listen to my father's words and bring a lady over to this party," Liang Si spoke as he approached. His eyes lit up as she gave Yang Ran a lookover. "Young Miss, instead of following him around, how about you come with me instead? You should know me, right? President Liang is my father."
Yang Ran stared at the teenage boy with a dumbfounded look in her eyes.
It took her a few seconds to believe that she was hit on by a teenage boy.
A chuckle escaped her. "Kid, you're charming."
Liang Si's lips turned up into a smile. He turned to the commander with a gloating look in his eyes.
"However, I'm not interested in small boys," Yang Ran spoke.
The smile on his lips quickly disappeared. "Why not?"
"It's illegal." Yang Ran flashed him a smile. "You need to grow up a little bit first. Then, I can consider you."
Yang Ran might have been involved in a few illegal activities before, but she had never been involved with any underage.
Liang Si narrowed his eyes before he finally turned around in a huff. It could be seen that he was unhappy with her answer.
Qi Ming Wei tugged at Yang Ran's hand and brought her to the buffet table. He picked up an empty plate and handed it over to her.
Yang Ran stared at the plate in her hand. She saw a few hors d'oeuvres she liked and placed them on her plate. She looked at the commander and asked, "And, what am I supposed to do now?"
"The only thing you need to do is to stay by my side," Qi Ming Wei said. "I don't mind what you want to do next."
Yang Ran pursed her lips into a thin line. It wasn't as if she had not noticed the way the commander has been glancing at the president once in a while.
"You know, if you continued to glance at President Liang like that, I might assume that you're in love with him."
Qi Ming Wei retracted his gaze from the president. His expression turned ugly.
Yang Ran shrugged. "For all I know, you might want me to accompany you to make him jealous."
The corner of his lips began to twitch. He really could not understand just what nonsense this woman was thinking. "Ran Ran, you're thinking too much."
This nickname still made her hair stand up. The two of them continued to stare at each other for a long time.
"Commander Qi."
A voice snapped them out of their moments. They both looked away at the same time and saw that President Liang was walking in their direction.
"President Liang," Qi Ming Wei greeted.
Yang Ran put on an amiable smile on her face. She was about to greet the president when she noticed a familiar face in the back. Because he was facing her, Yang Ran was able to get a clear look of his face.
This old man... was he, not her Uncle Huang?
