Chapter 25 - Escaped Safely

The sound of the police's siren echoed through the night.

Eric Tan walked out of the building through the back door before he walked into the crowd, joining the other onlookers. From where he stood, Eric could see that the police in uniform had started to surround the place.

Each of them was wearing a bulletproof vest.

From the look at it, it seemed that they were preparing themselves for a big fight.

Their commander stood at the center as he was giving them his instruction.

The crowd started to whisper about what was going on.

Just a few moments ago, they were drinking and dancing around happily with their friends and partner. However, the police came suddenly and shoved them all out. No one know what was going on, but it was said that a big boss was in trouble.

It was said that some assassin had taken the big boss hostage in one of the VVIP rooms.

However, no one knew anything about this big boss.

Soon, a few well-known politicians were seen escorted out of the building. Although they tried very hard to hide their face, the public could still recognize them. A few of them started to take out their phone and snapped a few pictures.

A few famous politicians were seen together at the club. Who knows what kind of discussion they would be having at such a place?

It was expected that the media will be receiving a few interesting news that night.

Eric Tan raised his head to look at the top floor of the club.

His eyes narrowed as he was worried about a Yang Ran. He could guess that Yang Ran should be the reason why this scene was happening.

He prayed that she would be able to escape in time. However, if that did not happen...

The thought that her plan might fail and she might fall into Morelli's hand made him anxious.

After staying around for a while, Eric slipped through the crowd and headed into the empty street. A few seconds later, a car pulled over beside him.

He pulled the door and slid into the back passenger's seat. Just as he sat down, his assistant turned around to look at him. "Boss, where are we going?"

"Back to the office," Eric said. His expression darkened. "I need you to investigate some—"

Screech!

His words were left unfinished. The driver made a sudden brake, surprising him. Eric looked at his driver in anger. However, before he could reprimand the man, someone knocked on the window.

Their movement halted.

Eric turned with a dangerous look in his eyes. However, when he recognized the person, Eric quickly retracted the look. He turned to the driver and instructed, "Unlock the door."

"Yes, sir." The driver did as he was told.

Soon, a woman in a black dress slid into the passenger's seat.

Eric gave the woman a look over. He finally heaved a breath in relief upon seeing that Yang Ran had come back without any visible injury.

He instructed the driver to start driving before he spoke, "Are you alright?"

Yang Ran raised both shoulders into a shrug. "It's alright. Fortunately, I left the place before the police surrounded the place."

"Rachel, you could have called or texted me," Eric spoke with a helpless tone.

"I was in a hurry to escape," Yang Ran said. "I have a hunch that you would be using this path to head back to your place. I thought it would be better to wait for you here."

A helpless sigh escaped him. Eric knew that he shouldn't be arguing with Yang Ran. The most important thing was that she managed to escape that place safely.

"Have you been waiting long?"

"It's alright." Yang Ran flashed him a smile. "Eric, thank you for arranging this meeting with Morelli." She thought of the state she had left Morelli in that room and her mood immediately turned positive.

His brow shot up. "I'm guessing that you had found him."

"Uh-huh." Yang Ran nodded. "He didn't want to talk, but he had no other choice but to tell me what I want to know."

His expression grew softer. "Did you get to find out what you came for?"

Yang Ran did not answer right away. She lowered her head for a few seconds before nodding. "Uh-huh." Before Eric could ask her another question, Yang Ran had turned to Eric again with a serious look on her face. "Eric, I may need your help."

A chuckle escaped him.

When he saw the look on Yang Ran's face, Eric had prepared himself to hear some bad news. He had thought that now that Yang Ran might have found out what she came to ask, the girl was going to bid him goodbye and leave F Country soon.

But if it was his help that she required, naturally, he would be willing to help.

After what had happened to Yang Ran's big residence a few months ago, Eric only hoped that Yang Ran would continue to stay by his side. He only wanted her to be safe.

However, he also knew that this would be impossible.

Yang Ran was bent to get her revenge.

Those people had killed her family. They were the people that she had grown up with. She couldn't let things go just like that.

Moreover... there are still chances that the people might continue to hunt her.

"What do you need?" Eric asked. "I can help you to investigate things at the right price."

He could do anything for Yang Ran without charging anything. However, Eric knew best that Yang Ran would not like that. She would rather not ask for his help.

Just as Eric had thought, the moment Yang Ran heard him mentioning the price, the look on her face softened.

With her situation right now, Yang Ran would rather not owe Eric any favor that she knew she might not be able to repay. It was best to pay for everything with money.

Her brow furrowed as she thought of her conversation with Morelli a while ago.

...

Back in Capital City,

Qi Ming Wei browsed through the documents in his hand before throwing them on his desk. He raised his head and looked at his subordinate with his piercing gaze. "It has been months. Don't tell me that you still haven't found that woman?"

Both Ji Cheng and Wang Yi exchanged a look.

"Commander Qi," Ji Cheng spoke. "After that woman had returned to F Country, it became difficult for us to investigate her. The people we sent were unable to find Miss Yang."

Qi Ming Wei narrowed his eyes. He did not call them to hear their excuse. "Then, send more people to locate her. You have to find her no matter what."

It was rare for someone to escape through his finger. Of course, Qi Ming Wei was not willing to let that woman go. Moreover, he had a feeling that Yang Ran might be linked to the problems in Capital City.

Just then, someone knocked on the door. A man in uniform entered before giving his report.

Qi Ming Wei's expression turned darker. He looked at his subordinate and hesitated. "Forget about Miss Yang for a while. It seemed that we have a bigger problem in Capital City."
