Chapter 3 - Train to Belthon

Ken walked through the shopping distracted by Cardio Port making his way towards the train station. The young boy was fascinated by everything he saw, but he forced himself to continue walking, so he didn't miss his train.

After some time of forcing himself, Ken arrived at the station. The station itself was huge, with several train tracks. The place was swarming with pedestrians entering and exiting the station.

"Let's see when my train will arrive"

Looking up, Ken saw multiple monitors that displayed the timetables. It didn't take long before Ken spotted the timetable for Belthon City.

"Looks like it arrives in twenty minutes. This means I can explore a little"

Ken made his way out of the station and continued exploring the Shopping District. Seeing as Ken had no actual spending money, he simply just looked at stuff amazed even if it was something as basic as an insect he hadn't seen on Zen Island.

"Hey! Someone stop those bandits!" An old man shouted as he ran through the crowd of people while pointing up "They stole my belongings!" The man continued to shout

Ken looked up, and so did everyone else. In the sky, a group of bandits riding on what looked to be brooms? They flew in the sky above the crowd looking to escape with the goods they stole

"Someone please stop them!" The old man shouted once again

"I know I was told to stay out of trouble, but I have to do something," Ken thought to himself as he prepared to go into action

"Look over there!" One of the onlookers shouted while pointing ahead of the bandits

Several buildings ahead of the bandits, on top of a tall building, what appeared to be a young girl around Ken's age, stood firm facing the incoming bandits as her long midnight black hair danced in the wind. Everyone watched, as they were all curious about what was about to go down

The girl held her hand to the side, summoning a bow, but no arrows. She pointed the bow at the bandits pulling back on the string, as she did this, a magic arrow appeared attached to the string. Seeing this amazed Ken, even if it didn't seem like anything special, it was Ken's first time seeing Magic outside of Zen Island

Taking up aim, the girl released the arrow. The arrow soared through the air at high speed, before splitting into four separate arrows and taking out four of the bandits, hitting them in non-vital areas. The bandits that got hit fell off their brooms and onto the ground groaning in pain.

Seeing their friends get shot out of the sky, the three bandits that remained retaliated and started casting basic destructive spells like Firebolt, lightning bolt and ice shard at the girl

"More mages!" Ken gasped in excitement

The black-haired girl was easily able to avoid all the spells by leaping from building to building. She was like a leaf dancing in the wind, moving around swiftly and effortlessly.

The bandit's destructive spells soon started going stray, endangering the onlookers. Ken quickly snapped out of it, and immediately took action. Jumping onto a building before jumping in front of the incoming spells, Ken held his palm out towards the stray spells

"Reflect!"

All the stray spells seem to hit some invisible wall, causing them to bounce off and go back the way they came from, but with even more speed.

The bandits saw this and were only able to dodge it by a hair, almost making them fall off of their brooms.

"Good, no one's hurt," Ken said in relief. "let's put these guys to sleep"

Ken landed on one of the many rooftops. Looking at the bandits, Ken released a bit of his mana in the form of a wave. His mana release struck the remaining bandits in the air and immediately rendered them unconscious, making them fall to the ground, thus the bandit problem was over.

Seeing what just happened, the onlookers started to cheer, while they cheered Ken made his way to the young girl. Standing in front of her, Ken started the conversation by saying

"That was a pretty neat spell"

The bow in the girl's hand disappeared as she looked upon Ken with a look that said both Surprised and confused "...K-Ken…? She spoke

Hearing the girl say his name confused Ken "How do you know my name?"

"It's me…you don't remember?"

"I'm a bit lost here. Remember what?"

The girl placed her hand on her hairpin "The promise we made…we made a promise on my birthday…"

"I'm sorry but I'm still lost"

"...I see"

"Maybe you're mistaking me for someone else, I'd never forget a promise"

The girl didn't reply, she simply balled her first up as tight as she could before releasing them "Whatever" she spoke, as she jumped down from the rooftop

A very expensive looking carriage arrived near the girl. The coachman came down from the carriage and opened the door for the young lady

"Miss, you shouldn't run off like that" The concerned Coachman spoke

"I'm sorry" The girl replied

Before walking inside the carriage, the girl looked at Ken once again, but this time it was a cold stare that made Ken flinch a little. Once she got in the carriage, the Coachman hopped onto the carriage before taking off

"That's definitely not how I expected my first interaction with someone my age to be…still tho, she seemed to be very convinced on us knowing each other" Ken thought to himself as he watched the carriage go off into the distance "Let's not think too much about that"

Ken jumped down from the building and onto the ground. Approaching the nearest person, Ken politely asked

"Excuse me, sir, would you be so kind as to tell me the time?"

"Sure, it's 10:49" The man replied

"Oh okay….wait what!" Ken came to realize that he has less than one minute before he misses the train "Thank you Mista!

"Hey kid, wait!" The old man shouted as he came running towards Ken

"Sorry old man, but I don't have time to chat, I'm running late!"

With that, Ken ran off through the crowd of people, heading towards the train station as quickly as possible. Reaching the station, Ken quickly made his way to his platform where a long train stood waiting, the train was white and resembled that of a bullet.

Ken quickly entered the train, as he did a wave of relief fell upon him

"Made it!"

[The train will now be departing. Please stand clear]

The doors of the train started to close as the train was ready to take off.

"Wait! Please wait! Someone, please hold the door open!"

A girl with pink hair and two short horns protruding from her forehead shouted as she ran for the train.

"Someone please hold the door open!" She desperately shouted once more

Just before the doors could close, Ken quickly forced the door back open in time, letting the pink-haired girl through, after she had made it in, Ken let go of the doors and they quickly slammed close and the train took off straight away, into a tunnel.

The Pink Haired girl had tripped on her way in due to being in a rush. Ken went to help by pulling her up by the hand, but something happened when Ken caught a glance at the Pink Haired girl up close.

All of a sudden his heart skipped a beat….
