Chapter 12 - Ha-Eun's Doubt

"Aurora....Aurora!!!!"

Mia called out as I broke out of my trance. I looked towards Mia, who was standing with a not-so-pleased expression. I smiled innocently but soon received a smack on the back of my head,

"Don't play innocent. I've been noticing for a while how spaced out you are" Mia unrolled the papers she rolled earlier to hit me, "You haven't submitted your report yet, and most importantly...."

She paused as I just pitifully rubbed my head, "You haven't had your lunch yet!!" she suddenly spoke, startling all three of us.

"L-Lunch?" I questioned as the other female nodded, "Do you know? How important lunch is?! It is the source of energy! It is the best time of the day for us workers! It is our sole reason to work so hard! It is..." and she went on.

I was now used to it by now while the other two males ignored Mia and continued to eat their lunch. Soon after Mia calmed down and I also joined everyone for lunch.

We were having their lunch in the cabin since we had a lot of work to do that day. While we were eating, maybe all three of them noticed how spaced out I had since earlier that day.

"Aurora?" Lucas called out but got no response, "Ms. Gray?" this time Mr. Saito called out but to his luck she still ignored him.

Smack!

"Ack!! Mia~" I held my head that got smacked by Mia, "This is the third time today~!" I whined as Mia ate her sandwich, unbothered.

"Ms. Gray? Is something bothering you? You don't seem so good lately" Mr. Saito asked and I knew that I couldn't hide anymore so I finally told them the reason behind my behavior.

"Actually...It's my sister"

And I continued to tell them the reason behind Abigail's condition as they listened attentively. Even though much time hasn't passed since they met but trust had already been built between them.

I trusted them and they were some people who would never break that trust of mine and that was something I was aware of...

"I'm so sorry to hear that" Mr. Saito expressed his grief, followed by Lucas as I stayed silent.

Then they looked towards Mia since they heard not even a little sound from her. She had her head hung low.

"M-Mia?" Lucas leaned a little to get a look at Mia's face. His eyes widened and his breath hitched as he sat straight, startling others, "Mia... She..."

Mr. Saito and I passed each other a confused look before turning towards Mia. She soon lifted her head and everyone paused in their spots.

She was crying.

"That's so... sad... Wahh!! AURORAAA!!!!!" she suddenly jumped on me whereas I was taken aback by the sudden unexpected action.

"That's so sad~! You are so strong! You're a fighter!!! And your sister too! Wahh!!!" Mia cried, "Uh??? Mia...?" I was confused.

I looked toward Mr. Saito and Lucas for help but to my surprise, both of them were holding back their laughter. And that's when I understood that I had to handle this disaster alone.

I spent the whole lunchtime trying to calm down Mia, who didn't seem to have any plans of chilling down near the future but in the end, I finally succeeded.

"Are you okay now? Mia?" I passed the glass of water to Mia who gulped it down in one go, "Yeah. But your story is just so sad~" she again started to weep as I sighed and soon smiled, seeing Mia's pure heart that is really rare to see.

"You seem to have lost all your energy crying. Want me to grab coffee?" I stood up. "Me too" Lucas raised his hand and Mr. Saito also raised his hand while his other hand worked on the keyboard.

"Okay!!! I'll be back then" I turned to leave but Mia held her hand, "I'll come too," she said seriously which seemed really funny with her puffy eyes. I smiled and nodded.

"You really worked hard to reach where you are today. I'm so impressed" Mia said.

"Stop it now, Mia" I handed her coffee and she just sighed and shook her head dramatically. One thing got cleared to me that day. Mia…was a drama queen.

"Ah? Aurora? Manager Gracia? Good Evening" Kian greeted. I greeted back while Mia just nodded, "What's wrong with her?" Kian whispered, "Just ignore her," I said.

"Shall we go?" I asked as Mia nodded half-heartedly.

I stepped out of the room where I witnessed Asher coming in our direction, causing me to take a U-turn, startling both Kian and Mia. I smiled at them and hid behind the wall.

'Why is he everywhere?? And why does he always appear whenever I have coffee in my hands? Is it the coffee? Is coffee staring as an antagonist in this story?' I continuously banged my head on the wall.

"There she goes again. I'm not even surprised anymore" Mia said, "Me too" Kian added.

The moment Asher passed them I dashed towards the elevator, leaving the other two dumbfounded.

*Ding*

"Why are you so worked up around Boss?" Mia asked as both of us got out of the elevator. She soon paused and suddenly, "*gasp*!! Did you?" she looked towards me, startling me.

"Did you throw coffee at him or what?" She suddenly spoke as I choked on air, "Cough cough...What?!!"

"Yeah!! In dramas, the heroine usually throws coffee at the hero not knowing his real identity and the hero then turns out to be the CEO of the company she works at, and then she hides from him" Mia described as cold sweat took over my forehead, "W-What? What are you saying?"

'Does she know? She just elaborated on the whole scene.

"Yeah~ I really enjoy such dramas. And you know, what mostly happens is that the heroine eventually gets exposed" Mia said.

"B-But what if she hides well?" I asked.

"*tch* That's not how it works. It's a fact that she will get caught. I'm a drama enthusiast. I'm an expert in this field...And you know what happens next?!!" Mia said excitedly.

"W-What?" I got curious. "They both end up falling for each other" Mia completed.

"WHAT?!! Love?! Him! And ME!!! Never!" I exclaimed and scoffed but soon paused when I realized I messed up. I looked towards Mia who was looking at me in astonishment.

"You-" Mia got cut off by me, "Oh my!! Look, the coffee! It's getting cold. We should go now!!" and I dashed off from there. Whereas Mia followed me with her squinted suspicious eyes.

___

'How long is she gonna stare at me like that?' I thought as I sipped from my coffee.

Mia had been glaring at me with suspicious eyes for a couple of minutes now and I had now fully realized that in what type of mess I have now dragged myself into.

"Manager Gracia?" Lucas called out as Mia just hummed, still maintaining her gaze, "I have mailed you the new marketing plan" Lucas said while glancing between Mia and me.

Mia again hummed to which Lucas looked towards Mr. Saito and both just shrugged at her unusually usual behavior.

Soon the whole day went by and it was time to leave. I got up and packed my things. I was about to leave when Mia's voice stopped me in my tracks,

"Stop right there, Ms. Gray" she circled her hand around my shoulder, "We have an uncompleted conversation that we need to complete..."

'Ah, Shit'
