"Huh," and just like that, I watched the people around me come back to life. Each of them seemed to have no knowledge that they had been paused for a few minutes.
Or maybe it was longer than minutes.
I scoffed.
I should have waited for an hour. Or I could have messed Riley's hair. There was also the thought of shifting his position, so he had something to puzzle out while I played pretense.
I lamented about not doing that.
Releasing a heavy sigh, I caught Fifi's gaze. She was looking at me with a touch of curiosity. I wonder why.
She and I would need to have another word later. It was weird enough that Winter and Savvy were here. Now Riley even joined the picture.
And there was Rex, too. Seeing him in this form, I couldn't help but wonder if Fifi should have been a female version of the same species.
