Thyrious was on a run a week later, stretching his legs and clearing his mind when he heard something from behind him. He skidded to a halt and turned to see a small wolf on its belly, staring up at him with wide amber eyes. Also in his wolf form, he tilted his head to the side, not recognizing this wolf. He wanted to shift and talk to this stranger but for some reason, he had the feeling he would scare it off. He inhaled and scented it as a female, scented the earth and wild berries.
He gestured for her to follow him then padded his way back home, glancing to her every now and then to make sure she kept up. He needn't have worried because half way there, she sidled up to him and rubbed her body against his as if in affection, though he had never met this wolf before. But Thyrious didn't want her to stop, sensing something right about it.
Once they got to his home, he called for Embry to help him. The male appeared a few minutes later and stared at the female wolf in confusion. Thyrious told Embry to coax her over so he could go shift, but the wolf wouldn't move away. Getting frustrated, Thyrious nudged the female to the other male, but she yelped and ran behind him, shaking in fear.
"I don't think she knows I'm a friend," Embry said.
Standing up, Thyrious went over to Embry and sat down, letting his friend pet his head. When he looked over, the female was backing away, hackles raised. Shocked by her reaction, Thyrious was at a loss for what to do. Shrugging, Embry left which seemed to ease the female so that she came back to Thyrious and sat beside him. Making a mental note of her behavior, he walked to his room, the female at his heels.
Once he got to the bedroom he headed to the adjoined bathroom and looked back. The female was staring at his bed with an awed expression. Perplexed by her, he closed the door with his muzzle and shifted.
When Thyrious opened the door five minutes later, the female was in the same spot, waiting for him. When she caught sight of him, she ran over and rubbed herself along his legs. "I see you like me," he said as he scratched behind one of her ears. "Now, I want you to shift. I know you can."
The female seemed like she hadn't heard a word he said because she rushed over to the bed and put a paw on the side, looking back at him with a curious expression.
"Female, I want you to shift." There was only that curious expression about the bed still. Sighing, he nodded. The female yipped and jumped up. Thyrious pulled the blankets back and then covered her when she was laying down. He sat beside her and met her eyes, finding them innocent and big. "Sleep," he said and got up. Turning off the light, he left the room.
