Chapter 16 - Can't I Do Something Nice For My Husband

Li Fu and Hai Bo escorted Jiang Meiying to the entrance of the school during school over.

Jiang Meiying watched as Jiang Ming got into the limousine with her friends and smirked in scorn when it zoomed away.

"...When do we have our lessons Jiang Meiying?"

"How much are we paying? We have two months before the exam."

"Do you think we can study enough to get good grades?"

"I really want to go to Gold Star entertainment college!"

The two kept berating her with questions till it was time to go their separate ways.

She finally turned to them and said.

"As long as you're determined and ready to loose a few nights of sleeping, then you'll be ready. Our lesson starts tomorrow and a fee of 25 dollars would be paid per lesson. We have roughly 50 days before the exam so that will be 1250 dollars each."

"Okay Jiang Meiying, Do we pay in cash?"

"Yes. If you have the money now, you can pay half the amount and pay the rest after the exam."

Before her very eyes, the two boys gave her 625$ dollars each .

She was surprised at the sum of money they had in cash, but these two were from wealthy families. She didn't suspect a thing as she pocketed the money.

"See you tomorrow then, and tell your friends about the lesson if they're interested." She turned to leave but Hai Bo barred her way.

"Jiang Meiying, my limousine is here. Let me drop you off!"

Li Fu stepped in between them and said.

"My limousine would be here in a minute. I'll drop you off!"

Jiang Meiying side stepped the two and began running off, looking over her shoulders to say.

"It's Okay. I'll run home."

"!"

"!"

Zhang Hien wheeled his chair to the door when Jiang Meiying walked in, panting from having run all the way from school.

She also had to run up to her room because for some reason all the maids had lined up In the living to welcome her. Some even opted to carry her bag, but she ran upstairs like a missile before she could get swallowed up by the mob.

"Are you okay, Jiang Meiying. How was school?"

He berated her with questions. He was glad to see her because aside his books, he usually felt very lonely just sitting idle in the room.

The maids had been nice to him since morning, ensuring he had his breakfast of fresh toasted bread and fried eggs with orange juice and helped him with preparing his bath.

They also ensured he had lunch. He was more than happy to eat Jiang Meiying's meal from last night again.

"It was fine." She hesitated before saying. "We had a math test." With that, she pulled out the test sheet from her bag.

Zhang Hien collected it In earnest and his jaw dropped. He wanted to ask her if this was her actual test sheet, but he knew it was going to displease her.

He just held the paper away, extremely surprised but genuinely impressed.

"I'm so proud of you Jiang Meiying."

"Mm." She felt pleased. "I'm going to freshen up, okay. How was your day?"

"It was quiet."

"Did anyone bother you?" She asked, her eyes turning cold.

"No of course not." He looked flushed at her question.

"Here, I got these for you at a book store. I figured out you must have read all your books, so I got more." With that, she placed her bag on the floor and pulled out numerous books from them to the amazement of her husband.

The first thing that came into his mind as he touched the book covers was how she could have gotten them. He was an expert in books and with the thick leather covers, he knew one could have cost 12 dollars and she had bought 25 books!!!

14 of them being a completed series while they others were sequence to each other.

"H- How much did you buy these books, Jiang Meiying."

"It doesn't matter. Can't I do something nice for my husband?"

His heart swelled at her words but the guilt was eating his happiness up.

Someone as useless as him didn't deserve someone like her. What could she have probably seen in him? These books were more than 100 dollars.

As his gaze was lost in the books, he didn't realize when she she left for the bathroom to freshen up.

She came out later, wearing one of her faded old clothes and a small smile broke out on her face on seeing Zhang Hien flipping through a book like a child opening up a new gift.

She quietly left the room and went downstairs to meet PangFua.

"The house is quiet." Jiang Meiying pointed out.

"Mrs. Jiang went to visit a friend, Mr.

Jiang is still at work, and Miss Jiang is yet to arrive."

Jiang Meiying snorted.

Jiang Ming would have arrived in the house before her. It turned out that she and her friends decided to make a stop somewhere before returning home.

"Did you buy the things I asked you to?"

"Yes, Young Miss!!! And we're all happy to help prepare dinner." A maid suddenly said and Jiang Meiying almost grabbed onto the bridge of her nose as felt a headache coming.

Were these people seriously going to help her? All of them?

"I'm just need two people." She simply stated and entered the kitchen. As she expected, PangFua and another woman in an apron walked in.

"What's your name?" She asked her.

"Niu, Young Miss."

Jiang Meiying calmly nodded and instructed them to pull out the things they had bought for the meal.

They had bought some All-purpose flour, cabbage, katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes), tenkasu, sliced pork belly, noodles(yakisoba). Jiang Meiying had wrote some specific toppings for the meal but PangFua had only found the Okonomiyaki sauce.

The other ingredients were already in the kitchen and didn't need to be bought again. The green onions, some eggs and a large bowl of water was brought to the kitchen counter.

After putting on her apron, she set to work.

She was not planning on cooking for the entire family but she did just Incase they were willing to pay for a taste of her food.
