The ratbeast leader felt the intruders had come to kill him.
His face was devoid of emotion as he watched them battle his minions in the cemetery. That was until he saw the woman and knew he had to have her. He ordered his men to bring her to him and ensure that she remained unhurt or they would answer to him.
None of them wanted to forfeit their lives to him. They knew that he could use compulsion on them while fighting, that's how he had become their leader. He could control their mind and bodies and force them to hurt themselves.
He had fought a battle with twelve of their toughest ratbeasts to be declared the leader. It was not an easy victory; it had come at a steep price: the loss of some good warriors. The foolish ones had decided to gang up on him first and take him out, forcing him to make an example out of them.
