CASTYR'S POV
I spy several demons stationed on the roofs of surrounding buildings. They are my first targets, but I will not eliminate them until my team arrives so I do not alert the demons. My next targets are the ones stationed around the base of the tower. If I take them out, Alpha Team will be able to enter the tower. It is up to them to fight their way to the transport floor directly beneath me.
I take a second to look around the roof. It is flat except for the handles of hatch doors leading down to the floor below. I let out a breath as I look at the doors to the transport floor: the place where it happened.
I pull my gaze away and focus on the mission at hand. My first priority is getting my team into the tower safely. Gunfire and explosions from Beta Team signify that the battle has begun.
I peer through my scope to see my team making their way down the street. I aim at a demon perched on the building my team is currently sneaking around and rest my finger on the trigger. I fire my silenced rifle and take out the demon with one shot.
Thank God the bullets are big enough to practically decapitate them. I watch the demon's body fall to the ground and move on to my next target. After I eliminate the demons stationed on the roofs, I aim at the ones milling about at the tower's base.
I hear the words, "Sniper on the roof!" being shouted as I aim at the last demon on the ground.
"Fuck!" I quickly eliminate the demon and find my team in the scope. They are advancing quickly. They should be able to enter the tower easily as I have cleared the path.
I spot a lone demon on a building that I had already cleared. Ah, so you are the one who reported. I do not spare a second and eliminate her.
The doors to the roof bang open a second after I fire. I whip around to see five demons enter. I shoot one in the neck before another speeds to me. I roll to dodge the demon's sword and quickly get to my feet. I draw my gun in one fluid motion and fire two shots into his head.
I hear a low growl as I am tackled. My gun spins away from me as my face is pinned to the ground and a sharp weight is pressed into my back. My hand reaches for my thigh as the nozzle of a gun is pressed to the back of my head. I grab my knife as I hear the gun prepare to fire and stab the blade into the demon's side. He hisses from the pain, and I manage to get out from under him. I scramble for my gun as soon as I am free.
The fourth demon comes to the third's aid only to be met with two bullets in the throat. I then turn to face the third demon as he lunges at me. We fall to the ground, only this time, I hold onto my gun. I cry out in pain as the demon sinks his teeth into my shoulder.
I bring the gun up to my chest and press it against the demon's neck. Blood splatters all over me as I pull the trigger. I push the body off of me and stagger to my feet. Blood trickles down my arm and drips onto the surface of the roof.
The last demon lingers, a deadly gleam in her eye. She smirks and pulls out throwing daggers. In one swift movement, the demon throws a dagger. I barely manage to dodge the blade before she throws another. I find myself staring off the edge of the roof as I evade the blade. Turning around, I face the demon.
I raise my arm and aim as she prepares another attack. In the same moment, a bullet leaves my gun, and a blade leaves her hand. They pass each other, my bullet finding its mark in the demon's throat as the dagger sinks itself in my leg.
The force from the quick blade makes me stagger. I pull the blade from my leg as I lose my balance. My foot slips in the pool of blood beneath me, and I fall off the tower.
The sudden weightlessness overwhelms me. My body goes limp. My grasp on the gun loosens, and it slips from my hand. I look up at the dark sky and stare at the shining stars.
...Ahhh...this isn't so bad. My breath escapes my lips. I am too tired to chase it. But my heart begins to pound as the tips of the skyscrapers loom over me. I can't die yet! I have to find... I have to find... The weightless sensation seems like a drug; it overtakes me, and I close my eyes.
My body relaxes in this impending limbo, but my heart comes alive and begins to pound again with a single touch. I feel arms wrap around me. One cradles my head while the other holds my waist. A warm breath sends tingles down my spine. I open my eyes to see purple eyes gazing down at me. Time seems to stop as I watch his black hair flow in front of those intoxicating purple eyes.
My breath comes back to me as I stare at the beautiful man above me. Suddenly, black wings spread out above us. We seem to float as the wings slow our fall. He moves his hands to cradle me in his arms. But instead of landing on the ground, the wings take us high in the sky. We fly away from the tower and the battle. We fly away from it all.
He takes me to a skyscraper a safe distance away from the battle. We land gently on the roof. The man falls to his knees with me still in his hold. We melt in each other's arms. It still feels like a dream until I feel his pounding heart. He is here. I am with him. I am in his arms. We are together.
"Kilo." Tears stream down my face freely as I wrap my arms around his neck.
"I found you," Kilo cries as he holds me tightly. We stay in each other's embrace, soaking in the other's touch and presence.
He pulls me away as he feels the hot blood oozing from my shoulder. Tears fill his eyes as he looks at my wound. His places his hand on my shoulder, and a warmth spreads through me, making me melt into him even more. The wound is healed when Kilo removes his hand.
"Where have you been?" Fresh tears flow as I look up at my angel with blurry eyes.
Kilo puts his hands on my cheeks and gently wipes away a tear with his thumb. "Later. I'll tell you everything later." His voice is low and soft.
"Ok." I nod and lean into his touch.
Sounds from the distant battle draw our attention, and I remember my team. Are they to the roof, yet? Kilo sees my face and looks at the tower.
Kilo looks back at me and pulls me into him. "Wait for me here, okay? I'll come back."
"I'll kill you if you don't. I just got you back."
Kilo smiles at me before healing the wound on my leg. He stands and walks over to the edge. In the blink of an eye, Kilo is gone, leaving me alone on the roof.
