For just mere milliseconds, the extreme aura of bloodlust appeared directly behind me. If it weren't for raw instincts, I would've been dead.
I ducked and dived, and what sounded like a giant weapon sliced the air behind me. The slice could be felt and heard; it pierced my ears.
The presence of the last wolf just disappeared. Did he kill the last one? Didn't matter; it was better for me anyway.
Even considering how dark it was, you could still tell the figure's location and size. He seemed to mean business. He towered over me; the only feature that wasn't black was his bright white eyes. We made eye contact, and he seemed to be staring directly into my soul, sending shivers down my spine. While I couldn't give exact details, he had a huge scythe larger than he was.
"Damn, it…" I muttered to myself, realizing my injuries were starting to kick in.
My legs were heavily scratched, and open wounds covered the surface. My clothes were ripped, and my shoulder was screaming at me. Not to mention the rest of my injuries and the entirety of my arm. For this fight, I would have to use my flames exclusively.
A trait I noticed while using them was that they would technically "heal" a part of me, or at least that's what it felt like when kicking engulfed. If that were true, maybe my right arm wouldn't be so useless. In any case, it was worth a try.
To use that skill meant it cost something. It didn't specify, but I knew something was up. For now, I'm able to engulf any part of my body at will.
Quietly, I started charging up a small fire burst in my palm. He didn't do anything but stand there, staring me down, scythe ready to slash at any moment. He gave me time to think of something, and there was only one way to find out.
RIGHT THERE!
*WHOOSH*
I would react within mere moments as soon as he made any slight movements. I raised my engulfed arm to block the blade. The only catch was that it was my right arm. The risk was high, but the reward of knowledge would've been higher if it worked, and it did, although there were subtle sharp pains. But I'm still surprised my reaction speed has increased substantially, probably because my eyes are better adjusted.
Anyway, my numbed bandaged arm could be used as a shield with fire! It's time to go on the assault!
"Whoa!"
*WHOOSH* *WHOOSH*
He threw consecutive slashes at me, and although they hurt a little, I managed to block them all. When he slashed on my left, I'd have to pivot my torso to the left, allowing me to block.
Now, I just have to find an opening…
*WHOOSH* *WHOOSH* *WHOOSH* *WHOOSH* FOUND IT *WHOOSH*
As soon as an opening presented itself, I made my way in. After waiting for the slightest movement difference, I grabbed the blade with my engulfed hand, hoisting it over to land on it. A bright glint shined from his eyes.
Without wasting time, I sprinted along the large scythe, closing in on him fast. With my speed increased, the momentum of this punch would be even greater!
"HYA- AGH!?" I yelled, caught by my torso mid-punch.
After managing to stop me, he lifted me up and launched me downwards.
"YAGHH!" I cried out, and my body shook violently from the throw.
It really felt like I was on the brink of passing out, but there was no way I could with all this adrenaline!
Realizing what was going to happen, I ignited both my arms. This time, the flames seemed to be more aggressive. Maybe my emotions? That didn't matter now!
He raised his scythe and slashed downward, aiming to crush me with his strength. My arms, positioned in an x position, were screaming at me in agony. Unlike before, this strike was powerful, pushing me further and further into the ground. Our surroundings cracking sounded similar to windows being shattered.
"AGH! FUCK!"
I continued to struggle, attempting to push back the blade.
"ARRGGHHHH!"
There's no way I'm losing! I engulfed both legs and pushed further.
*CLINK*
The sound of the blade pushing back was my cue to retaliate. I quickly regained composure, and with all four limbs caught on fire, I jumped upward to where the giant blade was located after he stumbled. After grabbing it, I swung around it, landing on it and using it as leverage to jump straight into him, clocking him straight in the face.
My body couldn't handle landing from that height, so when I landed, I crashed into a nearby wall, panting. But I knew this wasn't over. He was still there.
He didn't make any audible noises, but you could tell he was pissed. There was nothing to worry about, though; I had a plan. After struggling to pick myself up, I limped in his direction, having only one arm and leg on fire.
*WHOOSH* *WHOOSH* *WHOOSH* *WHOOSH*
He relentlessly swung at me. Although it was a struggle, my arm blocked every swing. I was in a standoff, a relentless barrage of swings. The entire time, I charged up a fire burst. He was too aggressive to even notice, which gave me enough time to finish.
After being swung at many times, I could predict his next move.
That's when I caught the scythe by its blade with my non-engulfed hand right before making contact with me, digging into my palm a little.
'Launch it,' a voice echoed in my head.
Finally, with a good opening, I launched the burst with all my might.
"He caught it!?"
There's no way I can let this go to waste!
The scythe's pressure softened, setting me free from its blade. I took this opportunity to sprint towards the large burst, kicking my still-engulfed leg as if breaking down a door.
"HYAA!" I roared.
*BOOM*
The explosion sent me flying, "GAAGH!" Right into the wall…
I was losing consciousness, but looking up, I could finally see him dissipating into thin air. It's finally over…
I think I'm gonna pass out.
