Mary fell through the floor. She looked at the darkness around her. It felt familiar now. She fell so many times now that it almost felt like home.
She opened her eyes and saw a scene she had seen only a few days ago.
Shu and Her, standing at the front gate, the guards aiming at them, and that bastard nowhere to be seen.
"Shu, I'm sorry for the next thing I'm about to do. I know you won't like it."
Mary said apologetically, and Shu's confusion was apparent.
"Hey! Show yourself! Bastard!"
Mary shouted and soon after was spirited away in a cloud of purple fog.
"Mary!"
Shu shouted.
In a dark room, on a different plane. Mary was on the ground. She opened her eyes and lifted her head. She couldn't see clearly through the darkness but could recognize the demon god's glowing purple eyes.
"So, what do you want?"
His tone was furious. It reminded Mary of that first meeting with Emma. She only now understands that this guy was acting nicely until now.
"Answer two questions and then kill me. First- What is there that could make mortals overwhelm gods?"
Mary asked her first question, and she could see that after what she said, that bastard understood what was happening.
"The limiter breaking."
He swiftly answered, and she couldn't attempt to hide her confusion.
"When I created this reality, I set a limiter to prevent a war like last time. Do you remember that night you, Shu, and Alexander passed out on that mountain? This is the night when I deactivated the limiter."
He explained, and she finally understood why they were all stronger afterward.
"So... Now mortals can surpass the gods?"
She wanted to make sure she understood correctly.
He nodded at her, and she was shocked. She needs to go back so far and change so much. How would she be able to prevent the limiter from being broken?
"Emilia. Once you go back, you need to find Emilia and use her to speak with me. You have to come back in time to long before you met Shu."
He answered the question she didn't ask, and his expression showed that he wasn't any more satisfied than she was.
It was silent for a bit as they both had nothing to say. It was clear neither one liked the situation, but it was also clear that they both understood its necessity.
She was now timider than before but still wanted to ask the second question.
"Who is Chanter?"
"Where did you hear that name?!"
Danny looked distressed.
His eyes glowed brighter, and she was back in the green world.
She breathed heavily because she was shocked. After her first death, she has never been this shocked by death before.
"You. You know who Chanter is, don't you?"
Mary realized.
He mentioned Chanter once before, and he existed in Chaos The First's time.
"Chanter is a piece of shit who died trying to prevent our authoritarian brother from recreating reality as what he wanted!"
Tempus answered angrily.
"Send me back in time to when I was on the boat."
Mary answered. She needed an easy opportunity to ask Emilia about her past.
********
And again, she fell through the abyss.
She opened her eyes and saw the ocean, she wasn't sure when exactly it was, but she seemed to have been watching the sunset before her.
She turned around and searched where Emilia was.
She saw her and took a deep breath.
"Emilia, I need to speak with you."
Emilia was surprised since they never talked much, but she still went with her under the deck.
"So, what is it?"
Emilia asked.
"I need you to tell me where were you one year before meeting Shu?"
Mary cut to the chase.
"Why do you ask?"
Emilia asked, her expression severe and distrusting. She had her hand close to her thigh. Mary knew Emilia had a spatial pocket there where she kept her dagger.
"I want to change the past."
Mary wanted, her expression earnest, and it was clear she wasn't lying.
"How?"
Emilia still didn't trust her.
"My gift lets me send my memories back in time."
Mary answered.
Emilia had never heard of such a gift and was shocked.
"I don't care why you are here with us or whether you believe me. All I need to know is where were you?"
Mary asked, and Emilia felt overflowing desperation from her.
Before she could even think it over, her mouth opened.
"I was being sold around in the port thieves."
Emilia said.
"Thank you for telling me."
Mary said. She walked up to the deck and jumped in the water.
"Take me to half a year before Emilia was being sold around in the port of thieves."
Mary said.
She just killed herself! Tempus couldn't help worrying more about his gift's inheritor.
"You were quite far from there at the time, are you sure?"
Tempus asked Mary, but the look in her eyes told him everything he needed to know.
********
And again, she fell through the abyss.
Mary fell through the floor. She looked at the darkness around her. It felt familiar now. She fell so many times now that it almost felt like home. Eh? Isn't this a thought she had before? Whatever.
She opened her eyes and saw a large man with red hair and black eyes.
He looked perplexed as he looked at her.
"Are you okay? Something about your aura feels different somehow."
Armageddon asked her with concern.
Mary was shocked at the sight of him. She missed him so much and couldn't believe he was there with her.
"I sent my memories back from the future, and I need your help to complete my task."
Mary said after she took control of her emotions.
Looking at her determined eyes, he chuckled.
"I knew keeping you alive was the right call!"
For some reason. In the past, someone ordered him to get rid of Thomas Mob's daughter. He chose to keep her. And he has raised her as if she were his own.
"I need us to get to the port of thieves in the next half a year."
Mary told him what she needed.
He rose, picked up his bag and axe, and looked at her.
"What are you waiting for? It's a long journey from here to there."
Armageddon said, and with one stomp on the ground, the tremor knocked her to her feet.
