I was in a rather difficult predicament as five pairs of eyes were staring intently at me, waiting for my response to the man's words. My eyes shifted towards three other kids in the room and the taller one was glaring at me while tapping his feet impatiently on the floor.
That boy has some problems.
The man seemed to stand up and cross his arms on his chest while looking at me with concerned eyes. With a slight sigh, he scratched the back of his head and said, "Don't worry, Young man, I'm just glad to see that you can talk now."
The young lady in white dress gently smiled at me as she noticed me staring at her and her gazes shifted towards the tall man as she said, "Yes Lord, after all the condition in which we brought him here was terrible."
My condition when they brought me here? I can safely assume that this lady was the one who dressed my wounds and changed my clothes. I would've a lot to talk with her if everything goes well without any problems.
Also, she referred to this man as 'Lord'. Does that mean he had some sort of supreme authority in his hands? Looking at his fancy attire on his body and the antique aesthetics of the room, I wasn't wrong to assume that this wasn't the home of an ordinary person.
"He just needs some time, I guess…" The girl who was with me in that room finally said something with a bored expression on her face. Her eyes swiftly gazed over me and then at the man.
So this man was her dad. Then, looking at the other two boys standing behind her, I could tell that they were her siblings, probably because of the similarity they had to her and the man.
The man turned towards the lady and started talking to her in a low tone that I couldn't really hear except the deep bass of his voice. I finally gathered the right choice of words. Considering the man in front was being treated with utmost respect, I thought that it would appear rude to be talking with him while sitting down.
As I tried to move my legs out of the blanket, the man braced my shoulders and with a soft look on his face, he smiled and said, "Oh, don't move. It's alright… no need to stress your body right now."
I looked at him in confusion, because from what I have heard about the royalties, they are really egocentric people with little to no generosity. But this man standing before me had pure eyes, empty of any ulterior motives.
If that was an act he was putting on, then I would've to say that he was quite a talented actor. Nodding my head, I looked up towards him and opened my mouth to say, "Pardon my rudeness Sir,"
Everyone in that room looked at me with surprise in their eyes as they were probably not expecting me to say anything like those cliché plotlines where the stranger speaks nothing.
The man's dark blue eyes shifted at me immediately as he looked at me with an indifferent look on his face while I continued, "I was just really shocked that's why words wouldn't form in my mouth."
I finished speaking, but no one replied to me as they stood there in silence staring at me. I didn't like when someone would just stare at me because it used to make me feel awkward for some reason.
"He spoke!" The shorter boy said with a wide smile on his face while his right hand formed a fist. From what I could tell, kids normally behave like this because they aren't able to contain their excitement for some reason.
"He can speak after all… what a nuisance!" The taller one clicked his tongue in irritation as he looked at me with what I could only describe as despise in his eyes. The man batted an eye towards him, to which the boy just averted his eyes with an irritated expression.
The man again looked at me and asked, "How are you feeling, Boy?"
Raising my arms, I clenched my fists and moved my arms a little, then said in an unamused tone, "I'm not sure, but some of my body parts are really sore, so I'm having difficulty moving them."
"Cella…" The man immediately gestured to the lady to come forth, and she placed the bag she was holding on the green carpet and walked towards me, "Yes Lord…"
I looked towards the lady. She was shuffling through the bag, searching for something, while the man continued, "Don't be scared, this is just a check-up."
It seemed like the man was trying to ease up my mood a bit as he said, "We actually found you in quite a terrible state, so most of us are glad to see you doing well."
The sour voice of the boy, who ratted his jade coloured eyes at me while complaining to the man in the room, "Why would you just pick up trash from the road and bring it home?"
Listening to his words, the man looked at me with an embarrassed expression and turned towards him with a sharp expression. In a stiff tone, he asked, "Did you say something, Dray?"
So it seems like the boy's name was Dray. As he again looked away from his dad's gazes and mumbled under his breath, "I… nothing, Father."
"You are the son of the Crawrett family and you behave like this?" The man started scolding the boy as he couldn't dare look up into the eyes of the man as the man just went on, "Is this the etiquettes you're learning?"
The boy couldn't help but feel embarrassed as he was being scolded in front of so many people including a stranger like me. And since he had the royal blood in him, his ego wouldn't let him be cool from this humiliation.
The man turned towards me and with an awkward tone in his voice, he said while chuckling a bit to ease off the atmosphere, "I apologise for his rudeness."
I also smiled back awkwardly, as it was weird being a guest at someone's home and they're apologising for something they didn't even do. I shook my head slightly, and said, "I should be apologising to you for being an unwelcome guest here seeking hospitality."
Both of us shared a small smile as my gazes shifted towards the lady who was now strolling towards me with some sort of mana resonance crystal, as she asked, "Will you lay down…"
If that thing in her hand was a real mana resonance crystal, then it would be useless on me. Without saying a single word, I proceeded to lie down while she added, "Carefully…"
