Chapter 7 - 12 year old's Knowledge

A lot of possibilities and thoughts ran wild through my mind as the lady looked at me, still a bit shocked and said, "That's quite the knowledge for a 12-year-old."

By her voice and the tone she said that in, it appeared like what I said wasn't something a person of my age should be aware of. I thought little about it but I would've to be careful about what I say from that moment.

"Let me check something…" I heard the man say, as I looked towards him and he was staring at me with his narrowed eyes. He closed his eyes for a moment and opened them as I noticed something strange about his right eye.

At that moment, it felt like his eyes were really looking right through me. His azure eye was glowing, as a bright orange circle seemed to be rotating near the irises. And instantly, his eyes reverted back to normal as he nodded and said, "Hmm… quite interesting."

That was weird since I've seen nothing like that. Even though I had quite some knowledge about magic, I have never heard of optical magic that can be cast without incantations.

Only people with really high mana and precise control over their mana flow could cast spells without incantations. But that too came with a limitation, as high-level spells always required incantations no matter who was casting them.

A bit confused, the lady looked towards the man who had this weird smile plastered on his face and asked, "What is it, Lord?"

There was definitely something weird about those eyes. I somehow started feeling really vulnerable from that point onwards. Even though it wasn't a sense of weakness in physical prowess, but rather mental upper hand.

"Nothing, I'm just impressed by his knowledge." The man said, shaking his head vaguely as the tall boy in the room, whose name was Dray, clicked his tongue in irritation and mumbled under his breath, "Tch! Even I could've guessed that!"

The man glanced over his shoulder as the boy smiled nervously and looked away as if he didn't just say something that would get him scolded by his father. Without paying much attention to him, the man asked, "So, Cella, can you just do a surface level check up? He seems quite fine as of now."

"Yes Lord, I was thinking of doing the same." The lady, or rather Cella, said, putting the crystal on the table next to my bed and standing back up and she took out a pair of gloves from the bag she was carrying.

I again rested my head on the pillow and she started unbuttoning the shirt I was wearing with an intense look in her eyes and said, "Let me see your bandages…"

So it was her who did my bandages. I hope she doesn't unwrap the bandages in front of everyone because that'll be quite the trouble for me. She took the shirt and put it next to me as I heard the gasps of everyone in that room.

I looked towards them, and the man was looking at me with pure horror in his eyes as for the others. They also had a dreadful look as they stared at me with their mouths hung open. My eyes shifted back at me. I noticed all the scars that I acquired over time on my body.

Cella slightly looked up at me but didn't dare to meet eyes with me. Probably because for a 12-year-old, having a body like that was an issue of concern. Even though I could tell that the man had many questions he wanted to ask at that moment, he didn't pry at all. Instead, he just stared at me with a blank expression.

Cella started running her hand over my bare chest as she pressed the region near my inferior pectoral muscles and asked in a soft voice, "Does it hurt?"

"Not really." I replied casually, as it really didn't hurt at all. I didn't even require the amount of dressing they did to my wounds. Knowing what degree of injuries I've recovered from, this was nothing but a mere scratch for me.

The examination went for a while as she took out her stethoscope and checked my breathing. Of course, for a normal health check-up there were no complications, but if they were to examine me using my mana, then that's just a dead end.

After the examination was over, the man exchanged a few words with Cella, as they both seemed quite relieved. His eyes shifted towards me as he said in his deep voice, "Boy, we have been talking for quite some time now. Why don't we introduce ourselves?"

It was true that ever since I came to my senses, this man has been calling me boy. Of course I didn't tell him my name, neither did he, since we never got an opportunity to do a formal introduction as I have read in books. It was quite important for nobles to maintain their etiquettes.

So I had to introduce myself to them, but I had more than one thing that I didn't want to be touched at any cost. So that leaves me with only one option and I'll do that without any second thoughts. If that could secure my freedom, then I would do it.
