I halt.
I slowly turn around to face him. "Contract?" I inquired, and he nod.
I exhale, knowing full well that I'm doomed.
Ace will be furious if he discovers that his grandfather is aware of our secret, so all I can think of right now is how to persuade, and probably confuse, Grandpa Douglas that everything he has investigated is a lie.
"Don't pretend to be surprised. You and Ace are officially in a contract marriage, so I don't see why you shouldn't also enter into a contract with me." He said this before smiling at me.
He's no longer eating, so all of his attention is now on me. "But I'm not acting Grandpa," I lie, but my instincts are already telling me that I'm doomed.
He scuffed. "Natasha, I'm not the type of person who intimidates those who don't have power, and I deeply apologize for my wife's behavior because she's just like that," he declares, and I can tell he's sincere.
