Melody had been trying out Felicy's number since Kristyn called the previous day. It was always forwarded to voicemail, she glanced at her new phone for the umpteenth time. Seth had ordered the latest version for her after the other one got completely thrashed. She'd used a spell to transfer some things she wasn't able to back up yet from the other phone's memory to this one.
"Watch out!"
The beach volleyball slammed weakly against her temple. Seth and she were having fun outside today too. This was the seventh time she'd missed the ball.
"Let's take a break."
She nodded at him. Reaching for her phone, she took some refuge from the angry red ball up in the sky, causing her to precipitate. She relaxed on the sun lounger chair.
Just as she was about to click the call button again, Felicy's call came through instead.
"Hey, Mel. So sorry I wasn't getting any reception at the mountains."
"Mountains?"
