Four years later… Year 3344
Ever since the 'talk' between Katanu and his father, things start to go downhill for Katanu.
It starts with him doing all of the household chores before and after school. His mother wouldn't notice, since she's always busy with her work and has to go on business trips twice a month. Of course, his father makes sure that Katanu can't tell his mother about the abuse or else he would do terrible things to her. Terrified, he makes sure to keep his mouth shut. Whenever he does the chores slightly wrong, he would get a slap from his father telling him that it should've been done better.
If that wasn't worse, he would always get insulted and bullied at school by everyone. Now that he's moved to primary school; more students heard about him and as a result, they bully him; because, in their minds, they think they're helping everyone by beating him. The teachers in the school never punished the students. Instead, they would congratulate and encourage them to beat him up and they would punish Katanu whenever he has injuries because they would claim that he was the one who started the fight and they would mark him late for school, even though he's the one who arrives early. This goes on to the point where it has become a daily routine for Katanu.
Now, Katanu walks into the school and hears all the usual whispers coming from the students followed by some meaningful comments. Due to this, Katanu has been able to conceal his emotions greatly. This doesn't mean that he can't feel emotions, but he no longer portrays them.
Whenever he feels slightly depressed, he always relieves it by training his physical body to its peak. The training is the only thing that brings comfort to the werewolf. Of course, he doesn't let anyone know this, so he always wears baggy clothes to hide his progress. He knew that he has limited resources for training his body because nobody would train him, not even the instructors at school (who teach the students, hand-to-hand combat). So, he goes into the wild. Even though it's really dangerous for someone his age, it's the only option he has if he wants to catch up with the others.
Back to the school, the bell rings and everyone gets to their classes. Katanu arrives at his class just in time and takes a seat. The teacher comes in and does a roll call. He lists the names and when it lands on Katanu's, he says.
"Katanu. Late as usual. Detention after school right in my classroom."
The students laugh at this and start making some comments.
"Wow, I can't believe that Katanu is late again. I mean I'm not even surprised."
"Is this like the six billionth time he's late?"
"Alright students, settle down, it's time to start the lesson."
Just before he faces the whiteboard, he gives Katanu an evil smile. The class goes on with the teacher going over literature. The bell rings an hour later and everyone goes to their next class. Just like before, in all the classes that Katanu has been to, the teachers mark him late and then give him the same smile. This of course does not affect Katanu, for he has become accustomed to this.
The school day ends and Katanu goes to his English teacher's room for detention. He spends about two hours until he can leave the building, and just as he goes outside, he sees three boys and two girls outside waiting for him; of which one of them consists of his main bully, Rayn.
"Well look at what we have here. The plague."
"Ugh. To think we're in the same building as him and the fact that he's breathing the same air as us is utterly atrocious."
"I know right? It's time to do our usual 'check-up'."
"Tyron, Reiner; you know what you have to do," Rayn instructed as the two boys hold Katanu by the arms. Katanu does not even resist, because the outcome will be worse.
And as if they can read Rayn's mind, the two girls (Tabatha and Penelope) start to punch Katanu in the gut continuously. After they were done, Tyron and Reiner let him go and the group start throwing some kicks, punches, scratches, and all sorts of attacks at him. You would expect Katanu to yell in pain, but he gets these beatings all the time for four years straight, so this helps him to gain some pain tolerance. In a way, they are helping him. Once they're done, they walk away satisfied with the result of their torment.
A few seconds later, Katanu gets up and walks out of the school campus and to the street seemingly with no struggle. He continues wandering the street until he reaches the forest. He stops at a certain spot that's filled in some trees and bushes. He goes through them and arrives at his training ground.
Three years ago… Year 3341
Katanu walked his way back home in pain after his daily beating. "(Why would they do this to me? What did I ever do for them to do this? First, they avoid me, and now they beat me.)"
As the werewolf kept on thinking of the reason why they bully him, he doesn't notice that he was entering the forest.
Once he snapped out of his thoughts, he looked around and saw that he was in the forest and not home. He also saw a small mountain with a majestic waterfall. The sight mesmerized the young man. There were also animals surrounding the forest, such as deer, geese, foxes, etc. They were moving in a carefree manner with no worries whatsoever. Katanu sat down on the grass, taking in the view.
"Wow, I never thought a place like this even existed. I wonder, can I train here? I mean ever since we started combat class, the instructors didn't even bother training me, so I don't see why not. But if I'm going to be at the same level as the other students, I'm going to need to train like hell."
This makes the werewolf smile. He knows that it will be difficult, but he knows that he can persevere and overcome the obstacle.
Five weeks later… 3341
Ever since he found the spot, he used the bushes to cover it, making sure nobody would enter. He also managed to befriend the animals that wander there. When he started training, there was some progress in his physical and mental capabilities; such as his speed, strength, stamina, senses, and intellect; but there were none in his combat skills, due to not having a teacher. However, he found a way to work around it.
Whenever he has combat class, he carefully watches the instructors teaching the other students hand-to-hand combat. Since he has a photographic memory, he's able to remember and memorize their movements easily. During one of his training sessions, he subconsciously fired a dark beam from his kick at a nearby tree, destroying it.
Katanu looked at it in shock and tries to do it again, but this time, it created a spark and not a beam.
"Huh? It didn't work this time, but what was that though? Werewolves can't do that, so what did I just do? Could this be a hidden ability of a werewolf? No, it can't be. We were told of the forms we can take to make us even more potent. Well, I'm not getting anywhere wondering what that was, so the best that I can do is to figure out how to do it again."
Katanu brainstormed on the ways he used that little attack until he reached a sensible conclusion, while a hand was on his chin. "Okay, when I was kicking, I fired the beam. It could be because of the way I used my kick or the speed of it." He put it to the test but is disappointed to find it didn't work.
"Okay, that didn't work. Wait! I do remember feeling angry when I fired the beam. Maybe that's it."
He tried again, but this time, applying his anger to it. He thought of his father and the abuse that he had to endure. He then did a kick and sure enough, a beam fired up into the air. The boy smiles at this and keeps training to see what else he can do.
Present… Year 3344
Katanu wanders further into the forest and finds a bear and tiger having an all-out brawl. He hides so that he wouldn't be noticed. Then he brings his hands together in a ball formation. Then a dark lump starts to form around his hand, and then he readies his hands in a bow formation; and just like magic, the lump of darkness forms into a bow. Katanu focuses on his breathing and creates two arrows, firing them at the two animals. Once the arrows make contact; they pierce through their hearts, killing them. Katanu then picks up the animals' dead bodies dragging them back to the spot.
Upon arrival, he places the bodies down and cuts up their skin to expose the meat. Once that's done, he starts a fire by using the leaves and wooden logs to cook them. He makes sure to feed the animals, that he befriended, first. Then he treats himself to the meat.
The reason why he hunts for food now is that his father would feed him the bare minimum of food, due to him always hearing that he arrives at school late. When the mother saw that Katanu was barely eating anything, she made sure that he would get enough food. Of course, his father threatened him with lying to his mother, saying that he wasn't that hungry.
After Katanu was done eating, he packs up and walks home. Once he arrives home, he goes to the attic and places his stuff, and sees the list of chores that he has to do on the bed. He looks at them and then he gets to work.
