"Well... that is a lot to take in." Chantria murmured quietly, shaking her head at the thought that she had actually died and then somehow came back to life.
Chantria felt if such an unbelievable miracle had to happen, why could she not have just awakened in her own body and instead come back to life here?
What sort of unlucky resurrection was this?
Chantria only realized a moment later that her reaction had caused that look of sadness and guilt to return to Gemi's face.
"I failed to look after Your Grace, I deserve death." Gemi said in a tone filled with guilt, her head hanging low.
"Can we not talk about this anymore? You will be doing me a favor if we do not speak of anymore deaths anytime soon..." Chantria replied in a grim tone.
Chantria had just died in her previous lifetime, only to be transmigrated into the body of some saint who had been dead for seven days,
Chantria believed she had had enough deaths to last her a lifetime.
"As Your Grace commands." Gemi said with a bow, hurriedly wiping her tears and putting on a smile.
"What would Your Grace like to do first? I have prepared your bath while you were away and..." Gemi began but the quiet growling of Chantria's stomach cut her off.
Chantria lifted a hand to her stomach, grimacing in embarrassment as she only just realized how hungry she actually was.
"Ah...of course!" Gemi exclaimed, shaking her head at her forgetfulness.
" Lord Irvine is preparing the morning meal for the Lords, but I will head down to prepare Your Grace's meal immediately." Gemi said dutifully.
"Lord Irvine is the cook?" Chantria asked to be sure,
Chantria watched as Gemi's eyes widened at her words, shaking her head furiously.
"Certainly not, the cook was sent away." Gemi replied quickly.
Chantria nodded slowly, she guessed this Lord Irvine was one of the five men she had met today, after all, amongst all five, she only knew the name of her supposed husband, Amir.
"Oh... then he is one of my husband's frien..." Chantria quickly cut herself off when she realized she was just about to refer to Amir Naeem as her husband.
'You sure are settling in nicely Chan!' Chantria reprimanded herself at her outrageousness.
"I mean Amir...he is one of Amir's friends then?" Chantria adjusted.
Chantria wondered exactly why Amir's friends had not left for their homes yet and were still loitering around here,
But she guessed perhaps the other four men worked here or they all lived together, as odd as that would be, the place was as large as a palace anyways.
Chantria was drawn out of her thoughts when she noticed the confused expression Gemi currently had as she stared at Chantria as though she was speaking a foreign language.
"Husband? Focusers do not use the word husband, Your Grace. What they share with their partner is much greater than that." Gemi said with a shake of her head.
Chantria resisted the urge to roll her eyes, whether it was a husband or a bonded lover, it was all the same to her, she did not see the reason why anyone would be so particular about it.
"I'll take that as a yes?" Chantria insisted on her original question.
"Lord Amir's friends? Your Grace means the other four Lords? Have they not told Your Grace of who they are?" Gemi asked in what Chantria guessed was a mix between amusement and bafflement.
Chantria could not understand what Gemi found so amusing about the casual question she had asked.
However Gemi's strange words stirred suspicion in Chantria's heart as she wondered just who the other four males were if not Amir Naeem's friends.
Relatives perhaps?
Chantria doubted any one family could have such amazing genes that they all looked like unearthly beings....if they were all of one family, it would truly be too scary.
They also did not seem like servants or guards to Chantria, even Gemi called them 'Lords', which could only mean they were considered of equal rank as Amir.
So if not Amir's friends, then just who were they and why were they hanging about Saint Chantria's home?
"Uhmm...no, they haven't. When you say who they are to me...why do I get the feeling I'm missing something?" Chantria asked suspiciously,
