Chapter 20 - Assesment

Since I pretty much have a solid foundation in terms of my ability. I need to focus on the other things for now. Mainly money and basic sources of living. I could invest in stocks of companies that will pop off in the future, but I don't have the capital to start doing that.

I could probably plagiarize a story from the original world, but considering my ability to write? Yeah no. I could always be an actor, but that might be the dumbest thing I could do. Not only does sit take such a long amount of time to actually earn something, but why would I be an actor again in a fantasy world? If I ever become famous, it's gonna be through being a hunter. Am I turning into a combat freak?...

Anyways, the fastest way I could earn money is through Lair raiding. As much as I don't want to gamble my life any longer, I had to if I wanted to grow as quickly as possible. Besides, I'm only planning on doing a normal Lair with others to boot. It should be relatively safe with little to no problems. The only problem is how do I find a group to go with.

" Ok class, follow me to the training hall. We will be assessing your combat and practical skills. " Kon announces to the class.

I don't really know what I should do about this. As much as I want to show it my all, it will just expose my true capabilities. That's like a trump card gone. But If I control my powers anyways, it'll absolutely do nothing, as I'm incredibly weak.

" Here we are. You guys are gonna have the entire 1st year training area for yourself. So go ham and use all of the equipment to your heart's content. "

The training area was incredibly magnificent. There were multiple types of equipment scattered all throughout the area. There was the gravity chamber that increases the strength of gravity, allowing you to refine your body. There was the obstacle course that constantly changes improving your agility, dexterity, and decision-making. And they all have their own operators, watching over and helping the users have proper forms and receive safe training.

There were also multiple dummies and weapons lying around for everyone to try and test out their abilities. The place was massive and we have it all for ourselves. The perks of an S class were no joke.

" We will be watching you guys, so do whatever you want to do. Most of you guys probably know how to operate these already, as I'm guessing you already have one in your own houses and guilds, but if you don't just ask the operators what to do and you'll be set. "

With Mr. Kon's assurance, the others started walking toward the equipment they wanna use. Charlotte walked over to the moving targets, Winter went over to the force counter, Sol and Klee both went to the gravity chamber, while Leon move to the obstacle corpse.

As we were walking toward this place, I had already figured out what I wanted to do. I don't really want to show my full power, but my full power was nothing anyways so I decided to show everything but the mana part.

So with that, I immediately head out to the energy platform, which helps you increase your Ki and Mana a few more times faster than normal. I could at most make 5 hands already until I get tired, but that was absolutely nothing. 5 magic bullets, wouldn't kill someone unless they were a frail goblin or a Defect.

I needed to have a lot more, like those of the ants when they were killing the spider.

I muster up all my strength and form all five hands successfully before collapsing to the ground in exhaustion. The mask wasn't helping either as I was panting and the air I was getting was not enough for the speed of my heartbeat.

" Isn't he too weak? How did he even get suggested to S class in the first place? I thought he was actually something as he did kill a Shrieker by himself, yet his energy levels could only be this much. "

I didn't know what the teachers were talking about but they were looking at me. I hope they saw what I need to improve.

" HA! " Winter suddenly scoffed from across the room. It seems like she was looking at me, and she saw what happened to me.

I just ignored her and stood up from my seat. I went and bought a potion from the vending machine to help me replenish my Ki and practice more. I was not sure if the teachers caught the hint, so I have to remove a few more problems.

...

I walk towards the center of the area and walked over to the panel standing in the middle of the arena. This was the combat application equipment. It helps you improve your combat sense by making you fight puppets according to the setting you tell the operator to put. They could be compared to a 1* hunter up to a 5* one. They couldn't really use any forms of energy, but they could be a Ki or mana hunter through the equipment they have. Like mimicking a pyromancer with a flamethrower etc. etc.

" What setting do you want sir? " The operator asks me.

" 1* Ki hunter. Strength type "

Possibly, the only opponent here I could beat... But you know, as long as the point is proven, I'm satisfied already.

The operator types something in the panel and as he does so, a droid rises from the ground. It was the size of an adult male and its body was made out of titanium. Well at least according to the Holic. I shouldn't have done that... It just frightened me instead of giving me an upper hand.

But I knew that destroying the bot was not the goal. It was made out of titanium so that it could be used multiple times, but it was programmed to stop working after receiving damage a 1* couldn't handle.

" I'm ready," I say to the operator.

" Why is he doing that without grabbing any gear and activating his power? Is this guy really an S-class student? No.. how did he even get in Tree in the first place? " The instructors watch Mon in disbelief and disappointment, wondering if he was a masochist.

* Ding *

The sound of the bell indicated the start of the fight. The Droid immediately rushes towards me ready to beat me up with all its might as I stood there tensing up as I lift up my arms. I might have a weak ability, but my body was still here. I could still use it to my advantage as I remember the martial arts I learned in my past life for a lead role in a murim film.

Swish... It arrived in front of me as it goes for a straight punch directly into my face. I easily dodge the straight by dodging to the side which formed an opening for me to attack but my positioning wasn't perfect so I missed the chance.

It brought itself up and it stood still. It seems like it realized it couldn't handle me instantly, so it brought up a fighting stance. This is why this is one of the best combat application equipment. Its droids could calculate the perfect move to use in certain situations. But thankfully, this is still only a 1* equivalent, so it should still make some petty mistakes.

It was squaring up as it looks at my every movement. I was slowly walking towards it increasing my focus each time a second passed.

1... 2... I was doing some jabs to see if I could reach it. It was still defending and looking for an opening. I realized that so I backed up a bit and lower my stance. At that exact moment, it seems like the Droid realized it and rushed at me seemingly going for a left hook. But I was fishing for this, the Droid might only be a 1* hunter but I was still less experienced than it. It was hard to find openings as it was to make them. I might have already lost if this was only a martial fight, but I had an ability.

As the droid was ready to hit me, I formed mist in its eyes, as I step back to avoid the hook. This in turn made an opening I was ready for so without wasting time, I grabbed its face and shoved it to the ground. As much as I want to punch it, its material was too strong for my poor fist.

[ You Win! ]

A prompt pops up on the display at the top of the arena.
