Chapter 14 - Lair (5)

" Gigantomachy "

A huge battle happened between the giants and the gods. It was one of the most important battles in Greek Mythology that ended in the victory of the Gods after a long-fought war.

And even though it was well known by the people, they didn't know that it had an underlying effect on the Giants walking around the world.

Albeit not the same as the myth due to the height of the giants here, the giants had developed an extreme hatred and weakness for Lightning and Electricity, mainly due to the powerful god Zeus's intervention during Gigantomachy.

This weakness wasn't found until the latest chapters of the story, mainly due to the rarity of giants.

Haaaa...

Anyways, as much as I want to brag about me knocking out a Grand Beast, I didn't have enough time and courage to do so. Yes... knocked. That current wasn't strong enough to kill a Grand Beast. It'll probably wake up only after a few minutes or so and I don't want to be here when that happens.

To kill that guy completely, you need at least an 8* hunter, or a 6* electric mage.

Anyways, the artifact...

If I remember correctly, Krean and the others had raided this Grand Lair, without knowing it was a grand one. So faced with a giant, the expedition team was inevitably wiped out, leaving Krean alone to run and hide from the Grand Beast.

Luckily enough, he managed to find a crack in the wall, riddled with debris and destruction as if the giants, had pounded on the wall repeatedly.

So I just have to find that.

...

Fuck

Where am I supposed to find a small crack that got pounded repeatedly? Uh...

But seriously, this place is massive, I can't even see the end of this place. Even if you reached the end of the hallway, all you're presented to was another hallway or an entire intersection. And you add that with terrifying monsters the size of the statue of liberty, you get this absolute nonsense of a place.

Although, I do have a few hints I could find on the walls. As I was complaining about the structure of the Lair, I saw some drawings that might help me in finding where this place was. Drawn on the wall were the same robed men as the other drawings, standing against two men who were taller than the rest. As you go through the drawings, you could see a fight seemingly has broken out between the two. A robed man collapsed to the ground, then another. Then one of the tall men died next. But it seems like the robed man realized they were losing the fight. As more of their men collapse before a tall man does. They ran and ran until one of the halls turned from the marble base to a blue tint. There was a small crack to which the robed men seemed to escape to. The tall men tried to enter the crack but they didn't fit, they tried to break it but to no avail. And then another man comes into the frame, he was different though, with a curly hair and beard, he defeated the tall men which ended the losing battle of the robed men.

Ok...

A blue tint hall. I have to find that it seems. That was probably this Lair's adaptation of Gigantomachy. Was it accurate? I have no clue. But this was a good help in finding this small crack which was apparently the god's bunker.

...

I strolled through the hallway, still hiding behind the pillars on the side. I've seen a few giants passing me, but they didn't see me. I have my attention at an all-time high, looking for some dangers lurking, and also the blue-tinted hallway the writings mentioned.

Grrr...

Another Giant... This one passed me earlier, it seems like it was heading back after an unsuccessful investigation. I held my breath as I stare at the giant going pass me taking a turn on the intersection ahead.

...

Wait, isn't that blue?

The hallway that the giant had just turned to had blue walls instead of the normal white ones. After it had turned completely, I followed just behind heading forwards to the blue hallway.

Damn, It seems like there were no pillars on them... How could I possibly hide then? The giant was also just standing in the middle of the hallway preventing me from going through.

I scanned the hallway for a bit, and I managed to find the crack immediately. It was relatively easy due to the dents and debris you could find on the wall and the floor. Though I did find it, I felt the opposite of happiness. The hole was over on the other side of the giant.

And if that was not enough, there was another giant on the left hallway of the intersection...

If I want to do this, I need to distract them somehow and then sneak or rush into the hall. I'd probably like to sneak more instead of rushing, but if worse comes to worst I know what to do.

I brought out my space pouch trying to look for something to throw. I have a few more Porcupine quills, but that won't go far if I do throw it. The power cell has a little energy in it, but this was too expensive to waste. I could only throw the hammer, which is a little heavy but there's no other choice.

I think throwing it in the hallway in front of me, was better than behind me as I'd be able to see them as I sneak around. With that, I threw the hammer without hesitation.

* Bang * The metal hammer had hit the floor, and I think it made it far enough for me to sneak successfully.

* Thud * * Thud * Surely enough both of the giants escaped from their own personal hallway, as they try to look for the source of the noise.

Without wasting any more time, I went out of the pillar I was hiding from as I sneak towards the blue hallway. It was incredibly fucking scary by the way, it can only take one bored giant to remove their attention from the hammer I threw.

But thankfully, it seem I was lucky. I arrived at the blue hallway, which is hidden from where the giants are so I started sprinting towards the hole.

" Grr "

It seems like the hammer had traveled quite far, as I see another giant, turning the corner from the end of the hallway.

" Gr.. ARGH! " It seems like he saw where I was at. He started walking towards me, but the hole was only a few feet away from me. The moment I enter that, I'm pretty much untouchable. And it seems like the Giant knew of that...

He stopped walking and he rips off a part of a pillar from the hallway he came from.

There's no fucking way...

First a tree now a pillar?! I couldn't bear to complain though as the pillar had already escaped his hands.

" AGHH!!!! " I was only inches apart from the hole so I extend out my arm rushing with all my might.

...

I slid down to gain more distance, which had helped me escape from the flying pillar.

*BANG * It hits the floor just a second away from my entry to the escape bunker.

I can't take a fucking break...

I was shaking and tired but the artifact was shining so brightly floating on a pedestal in the middle of the room. The room was pretty bland anyways, just a blue box, with moss growing on the sides, and the only thing making this room incredible was a purplish circular fruit with small indents scattered all over it. It was shining and smoking, making it look incredibly fresh.

It's finally here, The Cursed Artifact of Holding
