"She was a monster, but she was my monster."
- Jeanette Winterson, "Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?"
Ezra, after many days and nights riding the majestic horse, finally made it to his home. He was exhausted, underfed, and on the edge. The Unicorn was lucky he hadn't bitten into its neck and began drinking.
"Ezra?"
Ezra slowly maneuvered his head so that he looked to the side. He saw a small girl, hovering above the ground. "Misrey…" he mumbled.
She began cursing, and he wondered where the spirit had learned such foul language. But then, he felt huge hands pick him up. Ezra groaned, but did nothing as Trumthor carried him through the crowd of monsters, through the gate, and into the Human world. Immediately, Ezra caught a scent and pushed against the giant. Trumthor let him go and Ezra disappeared through the trees.
Hours later, many hours later, he returned in his Obayifo form, blood dripping down his chin, over his chest, and on his hands and claws.
