EDMUND
~ATKINS 634AD
"Where am I?" He asked himself. He was aroused by his surroundings. The building was quite surprising. It had only one window which looked manually made and not by a specialist. He could see clothes all over the place. The floor was bare. It had no design or special material covering it. It wasn't tiled nor was it leveled. The wall was the same, the difference was just that the upper part was of unequal wood.
He was still in slumber when he began to notice other things. He could hear the voices of a few people. It was coming from outside of his room. He stood up to check what was going on but then he let out a scream.
He was naked!! He looked around in search of something to cover his naked body. He searched for a few minutes till he saw something, so he rushed towards it.
He was about to wrap himself with the little garment just when he noticed some things. He stretched out one of his hands to get a bit of reflection. They weren't this long. With his height, he could sense something was wrong. He usually stood at 5'10 but this? He looked 6'3 if not slightly taller. He returned his gaze to his hands. They looked stronger and thicker than usual.
Bringing his hands to his face,
"Darn it!" He was about to yell when he suddenly paused. He focused closely on the sense he was getting. It sounded like footsteps.
"Someone is coming,"
He began to look around possibly in search of a longer garment. He found one and hastily wrapped it around his naked body.
The footsteps could be heard approaching. It was getting closer and closer. Finally, the person was just in front of his entrance.
A man in his late teens possibly around age 18 walked into the room. He was quite fair in complexion, he had black hair with blue eyes and was about 6'2 tall. He was putting on a simple-looking shorts. It was made of a particular textile material that seemed of low quality. One other thing noticeable was his chest being left open. In his hands were a bowl of water and a towel.
He let out a shout when he saw Edmund. He seemed quite surprised as he threw the bowl on the floor splashing the water in it.
"Yetty! Culbert! Yetty!"He ran out of the room yelling those words.
A few minutes later. A man ran into the room being followed by a woman. The woman hugged him and the man did the same hugging them both.
"We thought we lost you. Oh! I was so scared. I thought you wouldn't survive it. I would have died, baby. I would. You are all we have." The woman said as they were both still hugging him. She was so emotional that she had already started shedding tears. But it didn't look like she was unhappy, it seemed the happiest day of her life. She stretched her body a little, her partner noticed this and let himself loose from them. They ended the hug and she kissed his head.
"When did you wake up?" She asked, raised her head, and kissed his forehead.
He looked around as he kept silent.
She looked at him for about a minute before continuing.
"The physician told us that the poison you consumed was very toxic and you wouldn't pull through."
"Your dad and I thought that you would…. Would… die" She said this time with tears going down her eyes. Her partner held her.
"Everything is alright. Our dear son is alive and well. So dry up your tears."He stretched his hands and wiped off her tears.
Culbert looked like a man in his early 40's Probably 41, he was 6 Ft in height, fair in complexion, and had blue eyes matching his short dark hair. His wife Yetty was about 39 years old. She was 5'5 in height, fair in complexion just like her husband but unlike him had dark eyes instead and long brown hair. She had married Culbert when she was about 18 years old but gave birth three years later. So her son was just like her crown as he was her only child.
He had fallen sick a week ago after complaining of chronic stomach upset and since then had been in a state of coma. They called in the physician and he told them that he was poisoned. He also stated that the boy wouldn't make it but Yetty couldn't just to believe that. She wouldn't allow herself to believe that her boy would just die. She insisted on trying other options. A total of 7 different physicians had visited him but they all said the same.
"Your boy would not make it to the fortnight!"
Staring at him brought her great joy. He was alive again. Her son was alive again!
They stared a while longer and began to notice the lost look on his face.
"What's wrong?" The female voice spoke.
"What's wrong son?" A thick male voice spoke this time a bit less softly than the former.
"Ermm.. could I please get some water in a bowl if possible." A stuttering voice replied.
"Okay, son. The thick voice spoke again."
He called out a name and a few seconds later a boy came in with a bowl.
It was the same young man with blue eyes who had come earlier only that this time he came with a brighter smile on his face.
"Ayan. It's okay hand it over." Culbert said as he collected the bowl of water.
"Ayan?" All these names seemed confusing to him. He began to wonder where he really was and how he got there. All he could remember was that he was lying down at home and fell asleep.
"Have it, son." Culbert's voice woke him up from his slumber.
"Huh?.. Ermm… Thanks." He said finally finding his voice
"Excuse me." He took the bowl of water and moved to the window."
The next thing he saw wasn't one he would have ever believed no matter how many fictional movies he had watched.
"This isn't… this is not me." He said softly with a shaky voice.
The reflection was a man a young man in his late teens. It wasn't even his younger self. This man was way finer. He had blue eyes and brown hair. His eyes began to wander staring deeply into the reflection to see what else he could capture but there wasn't enough light. His hands also began to shake and the bowl fell from his hands breaking into several pieces.
"What's wrong Edmund?" Yetty yelled rushing over.
"Edmund! So that's the name. My name….his name….the body.."
It's Edmund.
