Chapter 8 - GIZA DYNASTY

~KILV THE CAPITAL CITY, GIZA DYNASTY~

It was a sunny morning as usual. Men and women could be seen going about their businesses with some hurriedly going to their places of work. For a reason, that day seemed busier than the previous days. Maybe because this was a bigger city than Atkins.

This was KILV the capital city of GIZA DYNASTY.

It was a city with over 40 thousand inhabitants.

In the centre of this city was the royal palace of the GRAND EMPEROR of the Giza dynasty. The palace was far bigger than that of Atkins. The walls are almost five times taller with the gate being more than ten times wider and stronger. This palace was so big that it could accommodate five times the royal castle of Atkins.

People could be seen moving about the palace almost as if it were a town of its own. Soldiers were present at every corner of the palace. Their eyes searched for anything that didn't fall into place ready to exterminate it.

In the middle of the palace were the royal quarters occupied by the Emperor and his queens. It was the most guarded environment of all the other quarters. Almost a thousand guards could be seen on parade, while others were on standby guarding the quarters with their eyes wandering about. Some soldiers could be seen on the rooftop with archers guarding from the battlement.

The administrative quarters were just almost a kilometre walk away. The building was quite luxurious. It was tall and extravagant. It had two pillars in front holding the structure firmly to the ground. A large door more like a gate was just behind the pillars and the phrase ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING was written boldly on top.

The inside was more ravishing. It was a wide room which had many chairs. They were arranged in a group of two, with each facing the other. The long room ended with a step-like structure more like an altar, on it was a luxurious chair. The seat was made of finely cushioned leather, while the top was modelled with different animal skins. One particularly visible was the tiger.

This type of extravagant piece could only belong to the most powerful man in the dynasty. THE GRAND EMPEROR OF GIZA.

A few minutes later some people walked into the room. Each puts on a blue robe with a black hat. They immediately reached for their respective positions and took their seats.

Not long after they had arrived a man walked in, escorted by four guards, two at his front and the other two at his back. The guards seemed to be in higher positions than the regular guards. He reached for the royal throne and sat. He was the Emperor. He looked more in his early 60's and was about 5'8 tall. He was also putting on a blue robe that looked more luxurious than that of the officers. On his head was a golden crown that wasn't large enough to cover his grey hair.

The officials stood up immediately after they noticed his presence.

"Long live his majesty!" They stood still till he released them to their seats.

He sat for a while before breaking the silence.

"Prime minister, any news from our spies in REUS." His voice was quite soft and sounded cracked quite befitting for his age.

"Yes, Your Majesty." A man possibly in his early 40's stood up and replied.

"What did they say?"

"Well, sire. There is no suspicious movement from their king and he doesn't pose a threat yet. Also, there has been an increase in their military supplies recently and they have begun recruiting more soldiers into their army." He finished his report and was about to take his seat when the king yelled.

"And you said there isn't any suspicious movement?" The king cut in.

"Ohh, I'm sorry. I had forgotten to inform you. Well, sire, you see they are planning on going on a civil war with the southern tribe of Dohan." He stood still awaiting the emperor's clearance.

"Ohh oh.., hmmm.. that's good! That's very nice!" The emperor seemed quite excited by the news.

Reus was an independent empire just like the Sahel, the difference just that they had always been at odds with Giza. They hated how Giza operated and had not been silent over it. This in turn made Giza turn hostile towards them. The emperor was excited because a war would have casualties and would hardly be beneficial to any nation. Be it civil or total.

"This war will be in our favour Your Majesty," One of the generals said amusing his beards.

"Yes, General Kun" The king replied.

"Enough of that. Tax officer!" He called out

"Yes, sire!"

"Any news of Atkins" He continued

"None sire" The tax officer responded. He in turn stood still awaiting the emperor's release.

"Hmm… they have some guts. How many weeks has it been so far"

"Three weeks and five days sire" The tax officer responded again.

"Finance minister!" The emperor called.

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

"Increase the tax by 0.2"

"Yes sire" He took some pen and began doing some calculations.

"And, information minister! Instruct some envoys to inform them that their deadline to pay is till the end of this month." He ordered.

That is all for the day.

He stood up from his throne and went to his chambers.

One thing was for sure Atkins would either pay or they would lose their entire cabinet.
