"Okay," the woman finally answered. She couldn't possibly refuse. She thought Darius and Talisa were social service officers. She got up and was about to leave them in the living room.
"Wait. We need to talk completely private. Charlotte, can we talk in your room?" Talisa asked.
"Is it necessary?" argued the woman. Talisa and Darius knew that the woman still wanted to hear their conversation. From the living room, their conversation could be heard in the kitchen. The woman was probably planning to eavesdrop from the kitchen.
"Absolutely necessary," replied Darius.
"But…"
"It's okay," Charlotte said suddenly. Her small voice made the atmosphere quiet for a moment.
