Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - welcome! to Declan's hair salon!

Isla rolled her eyes and stepped backwards. "That reminds me, I brought some brownies for you…"

Declan shot her a suspicious look. "They're just normal brownies, right? You didn't pay any girl to sneak into my house again did you?" He asked seriously.

Isla just waved his worries away. "Of course not, I worry about you, you know." She tsked, taking out a box of brownies. "I fear that you're not eating well."

"So you brought brownies?" He raised a brow. "Don't make it sound like I eat nothing but tree bark and bugs, besides Fa… I mean, I'm learning how to cook better." He corrected quickly, sweat beading on his brow.

Fortunately, getting rid of Isla afterwards wasn't as difficult as he feared it would be, his heart rate slowing down for the first time after he heard Isla's knock.

She had finally left, in a flurry of long, wavy blonde hair and knee high white boots.

He couldn't believe that he had almost outed himself, he had to be extra careful around Isla.

Faun still wasn't out yet so he decided to make the order and then try to get some work done while he waited for the food.

He wasn't acting like someone who wanted to get rid of his guest, he doubted buying out a whole store for said guest would get rid of him.

The thing was, Declan was caught between a rock and a hard place. He didn't want Faun spending too much time in his cottage but on the other hand couldn't get rid of him because even though the hybrid didn't know it yet, he had nowhere to go.

The North was too dangerous for Declan to knowingly send him there and he couldn't return him back to the woods where he found him.

So he was technically stuck with the hybrid for the time being, he knew he should have just walked right on home after hearing his cries.

The doorbell rang again and this time Declan wasn't worried about who it could be, Isla kept to her words when she wanted to, he hoped this would be one of those times.

He opened the door to find a uniformed deliveryman on the other side, after getting their lunch, he stepped back inside.

Faun should have been done a long time ago but there was still no sign of him.

He decided to check on Faun this time, knocking on his door hesitantly.

Faun came over to open the door, staring up at him expectantly.

"Lunch is ready." Declan informed him, peeking into the room over his shoulder.

He wasn't sure what he expected to see but he was relieved to see that Faun had tried on the new clothes and was mostly done with arranging.

"Okay." Faun said simply. "I'm almost finished."

Declan turned away at this, their interactions were still quite awkward which was to be expected but occasionally, he found himself wondering what Faun was like usually.

He had ordered pizza, Faun didn't have any dislikes yet when it came to food so Declan felt confident in ordering whatever topping he felt like.

Faun was out in no time, his eyes going wide when he took in what was on the table.

Declan had brought out a plate for him as well, a slice of pizza on it.

"What is this?" Faun asked without thinking, sitting down with a curious look on his face.

"Pizza, it's really good, try it." He found himself encouraging him.

Faun froze when he picked up his plate, realising his slip up. This must be a very popular meal so wouldn't Declan find it odd that he didn't know what it was?

He glanced at Declan who paid no mind to him, distracted with scrolling on his phone.

Faun took a deep breath, he was starting to get too comfortable around Declan, he had to be more careful.

He took a bite out of the delicious smelling slice, his eyes closing in rapture.

Declan grinned at Faun's look of bliss. "You like?"

"Yeah." Faun nodded, his mouth full.

It wasn't that hard to tell that Faun really liked pizza because the entire thing was cleared out in no time.

Declan appraised Faun when they were all done eating and the table was cleared up, the hybrid looked alright in the clothes he had bought for him.

He was a little awkward in them like he didn't wear them often which really didn't come off as a surprise to Declan.

His eyes settled on Faun's wild mass of hair though, it looked like it had never seen a comb or brush before and that might just be the case.

As much as Declan wanted to hand Faun a brush and make the hybrid handle his tangled hair alone, he knew that wouldn't be very effective.

His hair was so tangled that Declan was considering a hair salon but that wasn't an option so he would have to brave the wild, fiery red mass all by himself.

"Do you mind if I help you comb out your hair?" Declan blurted out, feeling odd for asking.

Faun frowned slightly, "Comb? I-I mean… su… sure." He said, sounding very unsure.

Declan was too distracted to notice how confused Faun had sounded, getting up to go grab a hair brush from his bedroom.

Faun watched him leave with apprehension, what did the human plan to do to him?

He was wary about blowing his cover and that was why he agreed without having an idea of what he meant.

The word sounded familiar, or did it? He couldn't quite place his finger on the memory he had on the word and that made him panic because it could be anything.

He waited impatiently for Declan to return, his soft green eyes troubled.

Declan had no idea of the fine state he had put Faun in, taking his time finding a brush. He grabbed a bottle of hair oil as well, Faun's hair would definitely need it.

The crease on Faun's brows deepened when Declan made an appearance, he made no comments though and asked no questions.

Bracing himself for what was to come.
