Jolene walked out of YU MUSIC GROUP and looked at the sky. It was already dark and threatening to rain. She took out her phone when it started to ring and answered the call.
''Rosa, where did she go? Alright, I will look for her. It's a bit cloudy. I will call her first.'' Jolene hung up and turned when she felt the presence of someone else.
''It's cloudy.''
''Yes!'' Jolene said. She still felt awkward around Kai. Mostly, anxious that he would bring up Erica. She knew she would have to sit down and talk about it with him sooner or later. But for now, Jolene was trying to avoid it as possible. She was also afraid that when it came to a legal battle, she would lose against Kai.
''I have to go. My friend just called that Amala left her place.''
''Are you going to look for her?'' Kai asked.
''Yes, Sir.''
''Let's go!''
''There is no need!'' Jolene said, a little defensively.
''Brown, you came in my car. I don't care what your thoughts are about me but I am your boss and since you came with me, you are going back with me.''
''I need to go and look for Amala first. It might take a while since I have no idea where she might be.''
''Call her.''
''She might not pick up when she sees my call.''
''Where does she like to go or do in her free time? Do you have any place in mind?''
Jolene shook her head and sighed.
''I see you have a bad relationship with your sister.''
''I will call my mum, first.'' Jolene said and her phone started buzzing. She looked at it and smiled saying. ''That's Amala. Hello Amala, where are you?''
''I am at a café playing games. I might not come home so don't wait up.''
''Hey! Amala, what kind of nonsense are you saying? What do you mean you will not be home? Do you know how dangerous it is to be out alone? Tell me where you are right now.'' Jolene said sternly and the line went dead for a moment.
''Amala, I thought we talked about this in the morning? I will not tolerate any type of misconduct from you.''
''Let me have the phone…'' Kai said and stretched his hand. Jolene hesitated for a bit before giving the phone to him.
''Hello, Kiddo. Where are you?'' Kai asked.
''Oh, brother in law. Are you with my sister?'' Amala asked over the phone.
''Yes, so tell me where you are. I will pick you up.''
''I will send you the address!'' Amala said and immediately hung up. A few seconds later, the phone vibrated with a message. He handed the phone back to Jolene and said to her. 'Let's go!''
''Wait!'' Jolene said and asked. ''How do you do it? Amala has being hostile towards me since she came. It's really hard to know what she is thinking. But I realised that it is different with you. I hate to admit it but she seems to…''
''Like me more than you?'' Kai asked.
''No really. I mean she seems to trust you more than me.''
''Brown…'' Kai paused before saying. ''Let's go!''
Amala was outside the café with her hands in the pockets of her short jeans. She had taken off her black hoodie leaving her green crop top that attracted attention to herself.
As she stood outside waiting, she looked at the roadside. A group of boys walked up to her.
''Hi, beautiful girl. Are you alone?'' One of them asked as he touched his lips with his fingers.
Amala looked at him and chuckled sarcastically. She turned and walked a distance away from them.
''You should look at people when they are talking to you. Why are you being rude?'' Another boy in the group spoke.
''I think the ones being rude here are you. You came up to a stranger and started talking.'' Amala replied. She hanged her bag across her chest and held her hoodie in her hands. Her eyes were fixed on the road.
''Come with us. Let's go and have fun together.'' The first boy said and tried to hold Amala's hand and she pushed him back.
''Don't touch me with your filthy hands. Get away from me or I won't be blamed for what happens next.'' Amala warned.
''She is a feisty one. I like feisty girls.'' The boy straightened himself and smirked. He pulled up his top, revealing a sharp knife underneath his shirt. He looked at Amala and threatened. ''Will you come with us or do you need our help?''
''I would hate to hurt a pretty girl like you.'' The boy added.
Just then, the rain started dropping. Amala clenched her fists nervously and said to the boys. ''My sister and brother in law will be here any minute. You better leave before they come.''
''It's going to rain. Are you sure someone is coming to pick you?'' The boy asked and pulled out the knife. He started to close in on Amala.
''Amala!'' Jolene called as soon as she got down from the car. She ran over and pulled Amala to her side and asked the boys. 'Who are you boys?''
''Scram!'' Kai's icy voice came from behind them and the boys turned. When they saw him, they turned and took off immediately.
''Amala, are you alright? Did the boys hurt you?'' Jolene asked.
''I'm fine.'' Amala replied and retreated her hand away from Jolene's grip. She turned and looked at Kai awkwardly.
Kai took off his coat and wrapped it around Amala before helping her to the car. ''Get in, it's raining!'' He said.
Jolene looked at them and walked to the car. She got into the front seat and turned to look at Amala.
''Why did you take off your hoodie?'' Jolene asked.
''I was feeling warm.'' Amala said and looked outside the window. It had begun to rain heavily.
The car became silent. Kai drove the sisters to Rosa's place and left them there according to Jolene's request.
When Amala entered the hall, Jolene turned and looked at her with an angry gaze. She still didn't bother to put on her hoodie after handing Kai's coat to him.
''What is it?'' Amala asked.
