Their first subject was over, and every student decided to chat with each other for a while, thinking that their science teacher would not get in time anyway. The class settled in once their teacher came inside almost immediately in their room and the heels of her shoes were so loud that it made an intimidating aura which made the students silent.
Cailean, in particular, became wary of her teacher's movements through her hearing. She could not see what her teacher looks like, but she knows well that she is not someone to be messed with.
After putting her books on the teacher's desk, the teacher adjusted her glasses while scanning the room. Her sight caught Cailean, and she squinted her eyes upon seeing her looking tense and warier than the other students inside the class.
"Well," she finally spoke, breaking the silence, "It seems like you all have been good today when I entered the room. There is no need to withhold the class with some speech from me."
Everyone sighed, including Cailean and Lena. Lena reached for her arm, and they shared a peal of small laughter. The teacher immediately cleared her throat, making the students look in her direction.
"We are going to our new laboratory," she said to them, "But first, find yourself a partner."
In an instant, Lena raised her hand. The teacher recognized her and lifted her chin in her direction.
"I choose Cailean to be my partner," she said and held her friend's shoulder. An innocent smile came out on her face, and the teacher agreed with Lena's proposition. The teacher also knew that there is no one in this school that befriended Cailean besides Lena. As the murmurs of their classmates got further, she also noticed the blind student in particular.
If Lena is not here, then there is no one that will approach Cailean.
"If you are done already, form a line already outside and we will head to the laboratory," the teacher said to them, and they rushed. Lena, on the other hand, waited for her friend to finish.
"Are you ready now?"
"Yes," Cailean said as she felt the mark that she made on the cover of her science notebook. When they filled up the last spots in the line, the whole class then proceeded to walk over the hallway and into the laboratory. When the teacher entered the said room, she was taken by surprise as the principal and the Alpha are standing next to each other and discussing something.
Alpha Conri turned to the teacher and gave her a smile and a greeting. The teacher did the same, and the other students were watching outside. Alpha Conri was pleased with the attitude of the students towards him, and he invited the principal to get going already.
"Don't worry about the sudden barging, professor," he told the science teacher, "We are just going to leave anyway."
"Yes," the principal chucklingly said to the teacher who seemed to be shocked upon seeing the Alpha close to her, "The students are here already."
"Oh no, don't worry," the science teacher finally broke character and waved her hand at them, "I don't mind. We are just going to start anyway."
Cailean, on the other hand, is getting behind the line of her class as she is still struggling and being careful where she is stepping. When she felt that she caught up with them, the blind student did not know that her classmates had already encountered the Alpha and greeted him.
She sniffed the air, and due to her strong sense of smell, Cailean was alarmed when a strong scent caught her nose, and eventually, her system which caused her to be cautious and her movements changed into a more defensive one.
"That scent," she whispered to herself, stopping from walking and Cailean felt a hint of fear and anxiety if their paths will ever cross again.
Lena was walking ahead of Cailean, and she was also wondering what was in front when she heard her friend whispering to herself. She stopped and turned around, only to see her frozen in her place.
"What did you say, Cailean?" She asked her friend, thinking that she might need something or have forgotten something back in their classroom, "Do you need something?"
The blind student was about to speak when she was being bumped by a male student of their age behind her who was playing with his phone, causing her to trip and fall to the floor, making Cailean's belongings scatter which caught the attention of Alpha Conri and other students.
Looking in the direction of where Cailean was, the Alpha smelled a fragrant scent, like a fresh flower from the field, and felt it as if it was good to the feeling and he knows who the owner of that mysterious and fragrant scent is.
Cailean.
"What the hell?" A student named Scott looked at Cailean with a disgusting look, "Why are you not even looking on your way?"
Scott's sudden outburst caused more commotion which made more students look in their direction.
"Are you okay?" Lena approached her friend immediately and helped her to get back up. She then turned to Scott and shouted at him, "You should be the one looking your way!"
Lena and Scott immediately get into a heated discussion as the blind student is feeling the rough and dirty tiles of the floor, trying to find her notebook and pen when she hears the footsteps of the one man that she is trying so hard to avoid.
Alpha Conri lightly put her notebook by her left hand, his eyes not averting on her face.
"T-thank you," Cailean whispered while still looking down at the floor. She might not see his face, but she could feel that the Alpha is looking at her intently. Alpha Conri slowly and gently helped her fully get up.
Lena and Scott have ceased their fight when the former saw her friend talking to the Alpha.
"You are studying here," Alpha Conri said to her.
"Y-yes," she replied. Cailean feels the nervousness and anxiety at the back of her chest, and she could sense that the Alpha is looking at her.
She might not see it fully, but Cailean could vaguely notice that the Alpha is wearing a black suit, and using her strong hearing sense, she could hear the murmur within the students around them, saying that the Alpha is very good-looking when up close.
The teacher became alert of the Alpha talking to her student, so she came by and said her greetings to them.
"Is this your student?" Alpha Conri asked the teacher.
"Yes," the teacher affirmed, plastering a smile on her face, and making herself cute in any way possible. Cailean could not believe that her teacher is capable of doing such a thing, "She is my student and a third-year student at that."
"Third year?" Alpha Conri raised an eyebrow and looked at her, "But with her age –"
"Ah, because she stopped for a few years, that is why she is still a third-year student until today," the teacher quickly explained.
The Alpha nodded, massaging his chin lightly, "I see."
Beta Farkas walked in their direction and interrupted the Alpha's talking to Cailean, "Alpha, let's get going. You are going to be late for our meeting."
The Alpha cannot do anything due to his time, and bid his goodbye, leaving the mate behind. He looked behind and saw that Cailean is in such a predicament. In his mind, Alpha Conri wants to know her more.
When they are already in their car and the Beta has started to drive away, Alpha Conri thought that if he could just make the mate join him in his house and live there from now on, she will be taken care of. He also noticed that her belongings are already too old; from the school uniform to the shoes that she was wearing earlier.
He heaved a heavy breath before discussing the matter with his strict Beta.
"What if I will just let Cailean live with us at the castle?" He suddenly brought the topic, startling the Beta, "You already said that they are poor, and we could see that their situation is a worse one."
Beta Farkas' eyebrows furrowed, because, for the first time in their lifetime of being together, the Alpha has shown concern over a rogue, "That is a noble thing to do for you."
"I know, I know," Alpha Conri replied.
"But are you really interested in her making your mate truly, or are you just feeling pity over her situation?"
"Why does it matter?" He asked the Beta, and then looked outside, "Both. I want to help her get out of her predicament, and I want to know her better. She is my mate, after all."
The Beta hit the brakes suddenly, causing the Alpha to throw himself towards the seat in front of him. He stopped in time, avoiding hitting his head.
"Farkas!"
"Sorry, Alpha," the Beta apologized to him, "Your mate is Cailean?"
"Yeah, she is," he replied to his subordinate, "When I saw her that day, I knew immediately that we are mates. The very different scent before finding her back in the forest was the biggest clue, and I immediately found her out. I can't explain it, but there is a different kind of energy which connects the two of us."
"Well, if you say it like that," Beta Farkas said, starting the engine once again, "You should let her live with us so that we could already recognize her as our Luna."
"All right," he said to the Beta, "After our work today, let's talk to her about it."
Beta Farkas nodded, and both of them drove their way to the office for their meeting.

Back at the school, the students resumed their classes after the incident earlier. Lena tried to listen to what their instructor had been telling them the whole time, but she could not shake the worry off of her friend.
"Are you okay?" She checked the friend, holding her wrist.
"Yes," Cailean whispered. She could sense that Lena is worried about her, and she is trying her best not to show any of that. She also hid the fact that the Alpha and her have known each other for quite some time now.
"Alright then," her friend gave up and focused on what was ahead, "Come on, it's our turn now."
Lena held Cailean's hand and guided her toward their seat. Minutes have already passed and when Cailean sniffed her surroundings once again, the trace containing the Alpha's scent had already faded away. She heaved a sigh of relief after that.
"He finally went out," she said at the back of her mind and focused on their teacher.
