Of the four dishes she made and two of Eva's, Sarah took Alex a small portion of each dish until Alex's plate looked full.
Eva and Jay fell silent when they saw the expression on Alex's face when faced with the food on his plate.
"Is it okay for Alex to eat it, honey? How're your kidneys, huh?" Eva asked whispering to Jay.
"I don't know either!" Jay replied confused. Jay cleared his throat and coughed a little to draw Alex's attention to him, and it worked.
Alex turned to Jay who immediately gave him a code as if to answer. Alex just smiled and lowered his head slightly, and Alex's smile reassured Jay that he was fine.
Jay immediately nodded in understanding with the code Alex gave. Alex, who had not had a moment like this with Sarah in a long time, didn't want to miss out on a special moment like this again, and Jay understands that.
