Chapter 3 - OTHER PEOPLE’S ASSUMPTIONS

As they passed the mothers there, Stu could hear a mother chirping about Sarah casually.

"Hi, Stu. You have to drive your motorbike slowly. Otherwise, your older sister's stomach will hurt. If you don't pay attention to her who else will love your nephew?" said a mother who is known as a popular Netizen in their neighborhood.

Stu who was offended to hear the chatter immediately stopped his motorbike.

However, a tap on his shoulder from Sarah made him look back and find his older sister shaking her head with a smile.

"Ignore it. We'll be late if you listen to her words. I don't want to be late, today is my picket schedule," Sarah said to stop her little brother from making a sound and told Stu to continue their journey.

With a sharp and angry look, Stu started his motorbike again without taking his eyes off the mother who had mocked Sarah earlier.

"Why did you forbid me, Sis? I want to stuff the old woman's mouth with grass in her yard, you know?" Stu questioned Sarah's attitude, "Damn. They are ruining people's moods this early!" he continued cursing.

"Yes, it's true what the woman said. You have to take this motorbike slowly and carefully. Your nephew who is in my stomach will be angry if his uncle takes him carelessly, you know?" Sarah even laughed when she answered.

Stu was silent to hear Sarah's words, who didn't seem to mind at all that other people said about her. Stu felt Sarah had changed a lot.

"You've changed a lot, Sis. If you were the first to speak up when someone made fun of our family. At that time your sharp mouth would have come forward to reply to the insult. You wouldn't even care if that person was older!" Stu complained.

Sarah smiled and Stu could see his older sister's smile in the rearview mirror.

"I just don't want my child to be rude, and that's all he'll learn since he's been here," Sarah replied, touching her stomach, "He'll be a temper tantrum if I teach him that," she continued.

"I just want to teach the right thing and there will only be the best for him later,"

"As much as possible, I have to get rid of my bad attitude and character from him, so that your nephew will grow up to be a good, smart, and happy child," Sarah replied with a smile.

Sarah seems to be getting tougher without being affected in the slightest by what other people think about her and her baby. She spoke casually to Stu again but sounded firm and meaningful to Stu.

"Besides, if you treat people like that there will be no end. One death will grow a thousand kinds of people like that again. We don't have many hands to cover other people's mouths, do we?"

"We only have two hands, but our two hands are enough to cover our ears, so we don't have to hear what they are saying. Pretend they are reading a poem or a fairy tale. If you ignore it, it will be better for you," Sarah said firmly but casually to Stu, and everything Sarah said made Stu happy.

Slowly, his older sister's life has changed and is getting better. In their eyes, Sarah was no longer crying and gloomy. Now she often sings and talks to herself with the baby in her womb who has started to move agilely.

However, when Sarah was alone. Neither Stu nor the others, no one knows, how the sadness that is getting more and more accumulated in Sarah's heart day by day.

No one knows, Sarah's longing for her husband peaked when the baby in her womb was able to respond to what she felt.

The more the baby moved, the more reality reminded Sarah of her time with Alex. It was a brief, beautiful togetherness that had made her happy and that made Sarah even sadder.

Stu and Sarah arrive at school. Just as they had entered the first gate, it looked like Sarah's day was about, to begin with, a little drama with Deborah the Curious Queen.

Deborah is a girl of the same age but in a different class from Sarah. She was always jealous of what Sarah got, such as achievements, lots of friends, and also a lover.

Deborah had always wanted the male attention Sarah had always had. If it used to be Alex, then now it's Ben, the student council president who is crazy about Sarah, even though it's Debora who wants the boys' attention.

So with her distaste, Deborah is always looking for ways to get rid of Sarah from school so that everyone's gaze and attention will only fall on her.

Sarah has been very lazy to serve women who have a hobby that makes her resentful. That was because Sarah wasn't in the mood to use harsh words at Deborah that could hurt the baby.

"Morning, beautiful Sarah!" Deborah greeted Sarah in a friendly manner. Until Debora's greeting just now was almost greeted by Stu, but Sarah forbade him again.

"Stu, you just go to your class," Sarah told Stu to hurry to his class.

Of course, Stu refused, but he still didn't want to go against his older sister's words. Grumbling and grunting, Stu followed Sarah's orders and left his older sister with Debora.

"Sorry for ignoring you for a moment. Good morning too, kind, friendly, and not overbearing Deborah. You're well, aren't you?" replied Sarah who did not want to lose to serve her.

"I'm fine and healthy even though I'm not as healthy as you. Just watch your body grow and develop well until your clothes just don't fit, hehe!" Deborah's allusions to Sarah are complete in one utterance.

Offended? Of course not. There was nothing wrong with what Sarah heard from Deborah because Sarah's body was growing well as the baby in her belly grew.

"Woah, thank you so much for paying so much attention to me," Sarah replied casually, causing Debora to turn her head away.

As usual, Sarah could always casually reply to Deborah's words and turn her without being provoked in the slightest.

"You also want your body to grow as well as I do? It's that easy!" Sarah still treats Deborah with kind words.

"Every day I eat nutritious food and most importantly, I'm not too interested in taking care of or caring about other people's business. So, my life is calm, my body is healthy. Not like you who are thin because you think too much about other people's business!"

Sarah replied elegantly to Deborah's sarcasm. Sarah took a step closer to Deborah and leaned her face forward slightly so their faces were closer.

"Didn't I ever tell you not to meddle in my business too much? You won't get anything or can make me fall for everything you suspect of me. You'll be the one feeling exhausted and losing yourself, Deborah. trust me," Sarah said half-whispered in Deborah's ear.

"Why are you still the way you used to be? Still don't like whatever I do and what I get. But living with your thoughts will cost you, Deborah,"

"I've been through all sorts of things, but you're still where you are, not changing for the better or anything. You're staying still and not advancing,"

"But never mind, I have no right to interfere in your business. Only you can change your mindset for your own life,"

Sarah gave Deborah a warning and a little advice. Then she left Deborah without seeing the angry look on Deborah's face.

'You can be proud of yourself now, Sarah. But soon, your pride will be crushed. You'll be ashamed of your self-confidence!'

'You think everyone is stupid, don't you? So you can walk around here and there without shame carrying your belly full of your illegitimate child?'

'Sarah, just wait what a fuss you're going to make yourself at this school!'

Debora had a sly grin on her mumbling inwardly as she stared at Sarah who walked away from her and continued to walk away.

Classes have started. But when class was in progress, a knocking sound from the front door broke the silence in Sarah's class at that time. Immediately, everyone's attention was drawn to the student at the door.

"Excuse me, Madam. I have been ordered to deliver a message that Sarah Henson is summoned to the principal's office now!" a female student from the front door of the classroom asked permission to call Sarah.

The messenger girl left after Sarah's class teacher nodded accepting the message.

"Sarah, go to the principal's office now. Your work will continue later. Looks like you've been waiting there," the class teacher ordered, Sarah answered immediately with a nod of her head.

Sarah, who got up from her seat, caught the attention of all her classmates. Tommy and Johnson were no exception, who had raised one eyebrow each.

The two of them exchanged glances as if to ask each other about what problems Sarah had that she was sent to the principal's office.
