"What the fuck?! How long is this bastard taking?!" Duan Ru Feng asked as he paced back and forth in front of the door to Hakari's room.
I stayed silent as I stared at Duan Ru Feng, not in annoyance due to his constant whining, not in contemplation on whether I should tell him to calm down, not even in me acknowledging that he was even here. I looked at him with hidden fear but not of him, but of how well Hakari knows and understands his enemies, it was downright terrifying.
I remember a few days ago Hakari came to me and told me the plan that he had in crippling Zantar, I was surprised at first since in my eyes this was coming out of nowhere and I never saw any killing intent from him when it came to Zantar. He even held him in complete contempt so it could only mean one thing, he was assigned to kill or cripple him.
I asked him how he will get it done since Zantar will for sure not let Hakari be anywhere near him for the foreseeable future let alone the two of them being alone. I remember him laughing and giving me a sinister smile as he said that we would be receiving a big help and that the mission will be easier than I could ever believe possible. He even said that we were not even going to be laying a hand on Zantar and that the most we would be doing is watching it all unfold. Imagine my surprise when Duan Ru Feng comes to me after class and tell him to come with me only for me to find out that we stopped in front of Hakari's dorm.
I've always wondered why Hakari even came to the academy, he had no reason to. The Kenji family has basically everything and Hakari said that he wanted to explore the world and hated being confined to places, so for him to be in the academy can only mean that he is not here by choice. As for the hit on Zantar, that could only be a political scheme by his family or whoever is allied with them, it would be the perfect kickstart for the academy to descend into the warzone that it is pending to be and the students know it as well.
Some have begun secluding themselves and cultivating like freaks and the tension in the place is high and everyone is strung in end, even the teachers are in endless fear due to the rumors that have spread of what will happen in a week. There is nothing that can be done about it, we are not allowed to leave as the security of the place has increased tenfold, there have been a few fools that have tried to escape and their fates were miserable, to say the least. Apparently, the guards are allowed to do whatever they want to the people who attempted to escape, I've heard stories of what happened to one of their victims, and the aftermath was that he was broken and soulless, they didn't even bother to kill him as they kicked him out and he killed himself a few minutes later.
"Hakari could be in class or be doing something else, he is a busy guy, you and I both know that unlike most of these geniuses he gets shit done," I said as Ru Feng nodded in agreement
We didn't have to wait any longer after I said that as we both turned left, facing the source of a mysterious and tempting aura. Hakari showed himself before us and made a face of confusion and surprise as he saw me and Duan Ru Feng. I honestly had to commend his acting skills, if I didn't know him well I might've been fooled.
A smile of amusement graced Hakari's face and I didn't know if it was a smile due to both of us being here or a smile due to him already knowing that both of us would be here, "Kellian, Ru Feng. The fuck are you two doing here?" he asked with a graceful tone.
Duan Ru Feng grits his teeth as if he was having an internal conflict with himself before he takes a deep breath and says, "I need your help. I need both of your help." He says in a grim and dark tone.
Hakari who knew that this was something that was not meant to be said outside nodded his head and walked past us, opening his door and inviting the both of us inside. I had to say that his dorm room was probably one of the best I have seen in the academy, I knew that some of the upperclassmen had penthouses and not dorms but this might be able to match up to them in quality. Hakari brought us to the main room and I and Ru Feng took seats on the couch while there was an obsidian table in the middle made out of some unknown material.
Hakari came back with brandy and some ice as he set it down on the table and poured himself a drink while giving us a solemn look.
"Pour yourselves a drink if you want. I don't know if you guys like ice in your drinks or not so I will leave it up to you two to decide." He said as I poured myself a drink and took a sip from my cup.
This was some good shit, top-quality brandy for sure. I'm sure this is a part of his father's collection that he and Rizen stole before they left for the academy as I've never seen Hakari drink until now.
"So Duan Ru Feng, what could be so serious that you would enlist help from me and Kellian of all people. I know how prideful you are and would not accept help from anybody and even if you did I would be the last person on the list. In fact, I'm sure enough to say that I wouldn't even be on this list but that doesn't matter as you are here now, so tell me what can I do for you?" He said as he leaned forward and gave Duan Ru Feng as stern stare as if wanting to peirce into his soul.
Ru Feng down his whole drink in one go and sighed as he placed his cup back on the table and gave Hakari a look that while not directed at him could still feel the killing intent in his gaze.
"I want you and Kellian to help me kill Zantar."
