Anubis,
The young god eyed the captain of guards suspiciously. How in the name of the gods could a mortal speak the ancient speech?
even gods themselves forsake it and chose to use their worshipers' language to make it easy to communicate.
Anubis closed his eyes trying to inhale deeply to try to define this creature in front of him but all what he got was the smell of ashes and earth.
He reeked of divinity, but at the same time, it was in a sense, rotten or old.
As if it was spoiled food that was left in the sun for days and even maggots were repulsed from it.
This only happens when some god falls off grace and his power was taken.
But it was a rare occurrence that it has been thousands of years since it last happened.
He once got a whiff of this stench off of his father, but then it was absent.
That night his father chuckled and told him it came from Apophis, but the god doesn't smell like that anymore.
