5. SIN HAS NO REMEDY BUT IN THE SACRIFICIAL DEATH OF CHRIST AVAILED BY FAITH.
ACTS 13:38, 39 "Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: and by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the Law of Moses."
Keeping the Law of Moses did not free anyone from their sins but the atoning death of Jesus completely satisfied the demands of God's law, making forgiveness of all sins available to all who believe.
COLOSSIANS 2:13, 14 "And being dead in your sins and the uncircumcission of your flesh, hath he made alive together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross."
Only the forgiveness Christ offers can free people from their
sins.
ROMANS 3:21, 22 "But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is manifested ….even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon
all them that believe."
SUMMARY
Sin may be summarized as threefold:
1. sin as an act, the violation of, or want of obedience to the revealed will of God;
2. sin is a state, absence of righteousness;
3. sin is a nature, enmity towards God.
The dilemma which a man without Christ, faces, is the state,
nature and the act which separates him from God.
