Chapter 6 - chapter six

1 JOHN 4:9 "In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent his only begotten son into the world that we might live through him."

The judgment of sin on the cross was the supreme example of God's love; for he poured out his wrath on his beloved son in place of sinners

2 CORINTHIANS 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."

God the father using the principle of imputation, 2000 years ago, treated Christ as if he was a sinner, though he was not, and had him die as a substitute to pay the debt for the sins of those who believe in him - Christ bore the sentence and price for believers, thus satisfying a holy God.

1 PETER 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own

body on the tree,"

Jesus tasted death for every man.

HEBREWS 2:9 "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned

with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."

Actual atonement, satisfactory for the sins of the whole world

was concluded for all who would ever believe.

1 JOHN 2:2 "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and

not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross satisfied the demands of

God's holiness for the punishment of sin. He paid the price

only for those in this world who would repent and believe.
