Chapter 37 - 37- Burning Kids

Daniel was worried. Worried about the kids who would be burnt very soon. Worried why his friends had not come yet. Worried whether police would come in time or not. He was still a silent and distant observer of the happenings. Still the teens were stuck in the hut. The prosecutor was giving his fiery speech while creating fire by fractioning two pebbles. There were silent gaping Malkhan onlookers. He thought why the Malkhan old man was angry. He was thinking this when he heard the honking of the horns of bikes and a handful of cars. A cacophony – but a most needed cacophony. He saw fifty some people were coming. Leading them was Charles in his taxi. The Malkhan onlookers gaped at the fleet of modern vehicles. When the fleet did not stop before the crowd the crowd was bound to disperse. They stopped before the old men. Charles got out of the taxi and shouted, "Who the hell was going to kill the teens? Just come before us."

Daniel came out of the place he was hiding. He rushed to the old man who was giving fiery speeches and caught him by his neck. By this time some people from Samuel's gang had descended down from his vehicles and fired one or two bullets to the sky. Other Malkhans were looking afraid seeing the guns (Malkhans do not know the use of a gun.) and swords of the gang. Some Malkhans started running hearing the gun shots and horrendous cries made by the gang. Many stumbled while jagurnutting toward their respective huts. There was a general stampede. Daniel liked this much of violence. Some gang members had seized the babbling Malkhan and some others had opened the gate of the hut. The gang put the babbling Malkhan on a jeep and asked the boy and Veronica to sit in the taxi. Then they started toward the nearest police station.
