Charles got the message. His mobile phone vibrated for a moment. He knew it was an sms. And his instinct told him that it was Pete's sms. So he read the sms while driving uphill. It would be a five minutes' journey to uphill. But who knew the sms could be important. The sms read: The police late. Has not come yet.
His first instinct was to relay it to others by stopping his car. His car was leading other cars, jeeps and bikes. He wanted to tell that no police was coming. They had to take action themselves.
But he controlled his instinctive feeling. Got better of it. The still, small voice in him said: If you relay this message to others, they may be discouraged, they may not take action. So it is better let them not know the truth. I think I should not disclose the fact about police. I choose not to. And if police comes in time, that is good. If not, we can do it ourselves, though in a peaceful manner. That is good enough. If anything goes wrong, we will take responsibility. I am to be blamed. No one else. For friendship. For life.
