Lili knew she promised Chao and Yitian that she would help them. She knew that it would be best to keep quiet. But she couldn't do that.
She slid the door closed and turned to her future father-in-law. She actually hadn't waited for his answer. Lili dragged him down to the car again. Insisting on talking at home and in private.
And he listened to her.
They rode back to the Jin residence in silence, trying not to shift Jin Weiwu's attention to themselves. Just when they arrived and walked into the house, Lili finally breathed out.
She sat down on the couch and waited for Mr. Jin to sit in his chair; he had always been sitting in when she came with Lei. Lei held her hands, and they both waited for who would speak up first.
"Tell me, what was that scene we had seen?" Weiwu asked, and Lili winced. She decided to go for it and a deal-killing blow right at the beginning.
"They are in love," Lili said. Lei squeezed her hand hard and Weiwu gasped. He wasn't thinking about it like that. He just thought that little Tian and Chao were good friends.
"How?" he whispered, totally shook. And Lili wanted to laugh. It was really nice to see the 'men' on their knees just because of something so petty.
"What how? They love each other, they just fell in love…" she actually smirked. Yeah, she felt that she was a lot stronger than them. Lei was a bit better. But their feelings could be hurt because of this, and that was something Lili couldn't comprehend.
"But they are both men!" Weiwu erupted, making Lei jerk. But Lili kept calm and smiled sweetly at him.
"And?" she raised her brows. Yes, she still had her party mood, which meant she didn't care and might have looked a little arrogant, but this was better for all of them.
"They shouldn't be like that!" he exclaimed once more. Yes, typical. So narrow-minded. She had only one approach to an attitude like that.
"Why?" she kept asking. Every time she was like this, the other person either gave in or erupted. But she wouldn't be afraid of her safety. Lei was by her side.
"It's against nature!" Lei frowned because he knew they were walking on the hot ground. But Lili didn't care.
"And who said so?" she asked one more question, which made Weiwu frown. There was a heavy silence for a moment before he spoke up again.
"If we were supposed to be like this, everyone would be like that. This is a modern invention. In my time, there wasn't anything like that!" Weiwu punched the armchair and gritted his teeth. Yup, he was getting annoyed, so Lili pushed one more button.
"Oh, are you sure about that? From what I know in ancient cultures, it was a privilege to have a younger boy as a lover. Ancient Greece was really leading in this. You know history, don't you?" Weiwu only mumbled something, and Lei leaned to her and brushed his lips against her ear.
"Deathly blow," he whispered and pulled away from her again. It made Lili smirk. She got him. She knew he loved history because the games he developed were full of it.
"I have one more question…" she said, but he answered only with a grunt. He didn't even look at her.
"What if you kept this attitude and because I know how much Chao loves Yitian, he would quarrel with you and maybe even stop talking to you if you didn't approve of their relationship," she made a pause and forced Mr. Jin to look at her, because of the heavy silence that lasted. When he looked into her eyes, she continued.
"What if this happens and then I would force Lei to be with me in Czechia? To leave Hong Kong and make business there?" Weiwu's eyes widened with utter shock, but he said nothing.
"Chao loves Yitian, and Yitian loves him because of who he is, not his money. He loves him because Chao is the perfect one for him and makes him feel something he never felt before. Their love is purer than many other heterosexual pairs I know. And we won't let you destroy it." She got up and let Weiwu think about everything. Lei was following her, not saying a thing, before they got to the door.
"Where are you going?" he asked when she turned around and walked into the living room once more. She saw Weiwu rubbing his temples and sighing. Lili pitied him, but she had to do this.
"You would be alone, with no one. And because I hate homophobic and narrow-minded people, I wouldn't like my future children to be in touch with such a person. Even if it was their own grandad." She was finished and now, satisfied with her work, she walked back to the door where Lei was already waiting.
"Was that necessary?" he asked, a painful expression on his face. He pitied his father and Lili pitied him too, but this wasn't something to be taken lightly.
She saw too many parents that wanted to shape their children to their desire. Ignoring the nature of the child. And Lili knew Weiwu wasn't like that, so the more she would show him where the root of the problem was, the more he would understand.
"It was, but don't worry. It will work out," she said as Lei hugged her and put her in the car.
They were taken back to the Zhu long house, which was already dark and quiet. Everyone was sleeping because tomorrow was their flight. And they needed to be rested.
As much as Lili was tired now, she kept thinking about Yitian and Chao, and she hoped that her tactic would work out. She fell asleep when the sun was rising.
