Chapter 24 - I'm against it

Lei walked into the house that his family owned. It had been five days since Lili left him, and he felt miserable. It surprised him how much she became part of his life in a few days. Only happy moments now for him were when he chatted with her.

His father, Jin Weiwu, greeted him and looked behind him.

"Where is your girlfriend?" Lei just shook his head, not answering him. It was a long time ago when he learned how to deal with his father.

"She had to go home. Her great-grandma died," Lei said, deciding to go for the more peaceful approach. His father just frowned.

"I get that. But she could pay respect and come back here for an afternoon..." he said, and thanks to that, Lei noticed that Chao probably missed saying one thing when he was reporting him. That Lili was a foreigner.

Oh, god. Father wasn't racist, but being in love with a blonde foreigner in an old Chinese family? He would be glad to live until tomorrow.

"Well. Dad. She would have to fly here. It would take more than the afternoon," he said as they walked to sit on the couch together.

His father owned a successful game developing company. So, they had enough money to live a wealthy life. They sat on a comfy couch and continued.

"She is not from Hong Kong? Then… mainland China?"

'This will be a long conversation,' thought Lei, almost rolling his eyes inside his head as he saw Lili doing many times before. Now he got why she did it.

"She is not exactly Chinese, dad." Lei couldn't think up a more gentle way to say it than this. That he fell in love with a Czech girl.

"Then where is she from?" Weiwu raised his voice. He became impatient.

"Well, father, at least you could say we will have beautiful half children." A good way to go… he surprised even himself with the children's talk. And father… he couldn't be more surprised.

"Half? What do you mean?" he managed to squeeze out after a while.

"Father, she is a foreigner. She lives in the Czech Republic, Europe," Lei just said, thinking that the patch needed to be peeled off quickly. And his dad looked like he had a heart attack. He immediately started to worry.

"Are you okay, dad?" His dad exhaled and leaned on the couch.

"I'm against it. I won't allow you to be in a relationship with her. Who knows what her family is like, maybe they are poor and illiterate?" he exclaimed and Lei wondered for a bit how he could establish a successful company with a brain like this.

"Dad. She flew to Hong Kong, which is pretty expensive, and she speaks more than five languages. I doubt she and her family are illiterate," he said ironically. It wasn't his first time speaking to Weiwu like that. But his father looked surprised one more time.

"Five languages, you say? Which?" his father asked curiously.

"Mmm. I know she speaks Czech, Slovak, German, English, and Japanese and knows how to read and translate Latin. Now she has started learning Cantonese and Mandarin." When Lei finished, his father looked impressed, so he decided to continue with this talk.

"She studied medicine, but then she followed her dreams and studied Japanese and English. After she graduated, she started to translate and make jewelry for herself. But everybody liked it so much that she started her own jewelry business, and quite popular if I can say. That's how we met. Chao found her and wanted me to hire her." Lei decided to not tell him about the gaming business between them.

During his speech, his father's face became even more and more fascinated. This was a good sign. He loved strange and fascinating things.

"She sounds interesting… I have one more question… Do you love her?" Lei just smiled.

"Then I have nothing more to say. Just bring her to meet me when you are ready."
