Drake was already calm and the presence of the book no longer sent fear and shivers down his spine, so he touched the first page of the book that had an unfamiliar font which was not written by any computer. "This must have been handwritten centuries back. How did..?" He stopped talking as he laid each finger on the words of the book written in a weird language again.
"You think you can read this too?" Alessia said as she raised her eyebrows.
"Let me see" Drake said as he moved closer to the texts on the page. He took just one look and there it was, he read the first line boldly and confidently. "Glossa ton theon"
"That sounds like Greek. Do you know what it means?" Alessia asked as she set her eyes on Drake.
"It means language of the gods" Drake said as he looked at the letters again before looking at Alessia who was bewildered.
"Didn't know you read Greek" Alessia said with a smile now finding its strength.
"Didn't know either" Drake said plainly with many thoughts roaming through his mind. "How's that possible?" Drake said to himself as he looked lost, yet again. He shut the book close but still couldn't block the thoughts invading his head space without warning.
Drake was disconcerted that he placed the book right back into the box.
"Do any of your parents speak Greek?" Alessia asked him as she tried to help him understand whatever this confusion was.
"No. Not that I know of" Drake replied as he nodded his head to the left and right as he looked to the ground.
"So, what are you going to do?" Alessia asked with evident concern.
"Right now, I don't know. But I'm sure I won't be opening this book again in a long time until I can get some answers." Drake replied with a low voice as he raised his face to Alessia.
"Kon kon" There was someone at the door and Drake really needed to get some air and maybe avoid Alessia's face for a few seconds. Deep inside him, he was already scared that she was going to consider him a freak soon. He walked up to the door, opening it slowly and saw the piazza delivery guy. Drake collected his pepperoni pizza and nodded at the guy and shut the door.
"Do you love pizza? Because I'm hungry and would love company" Drake said ecstatically as he tried to shift attention from his "freakiness" to something entirely different.
"Sure. I would never turn down a pizza." Alessia said with a smile as she went to the sitting room where the pizza was.
Drake was definitely not the patient eater, or maybe it was his anxiety rushing things. He had already had one slice and his upper and lower lips were already full of red colouring or whatever this was.
Alessia got down to business too as she took a slice and before you know it, they started making fun of the stains on their lips and some hilarious faces which provoked serious laughter. This was one of the moments when every other thing just didn't matter to Drake or Alessia as they were busy making memories.
After over thirty minutes of amusing dinner, they were wasted. Not the type that the drunk guys get after a couple drinks, but the one that was only gotten from relentless hilarity. Alessia stood slowly and packed the table with Drake who was already doing the same.
Unintentionally, their fingers entwined and their eyes struck each other as the seconds became silent and the moment became still. They just stayed like that, saying nothing and doing nothing, just looking at themselves.
"Thank you for tonight" Alessia said with a warm smile on her already red cheeks.
"No. I should be the one to say that. You gave me more company than I ever imagined in all of my fantasies." Drake replied as he chuckled awkwardly.
"You know, this is the first time I will be sleeping over somewhere other than my house" Alessia said softly as sincerity was all over her face.
"Well, I can say the same. Not that I have not been in other family sleepovers, but with someone in my house, that has not happened. And you're the first girl to actually do that." Drake said slowly and with a bit of anxiety.
"And how do you feel about that? About me?" Alessia said as she moved closer to Drake's face.
Drake noticed this closeness and in order not to encroach into her private space, he moved about an inch back. "I feel…"
"How better to end the night than to sleep together." Alessia said as she cut him abruptly.
"What?" Drake's jaws dropped as his mouth was almost totally wide open.
"You know you haven't shown me my room yet. I was hoping you would, so we can say our goodnights." Alessia said as she smiled while pronouncing every word. She chuckled after speaking as she noticed his slightly opened mouth. "What is he thinking about?" She thought to herself.
