Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 21

She was planning something? But What?

Why was she pushing things forward? Was this part of another plan? She already knew everything, Didn't she? Then what was the reason behind it? I only had a day to figure everything out but he was hot on my tail like a guard following my every move...

" Why are you following me?" I turned around as I put a hand on my waist questioning him like a pro.

Don't talk to me like that, Fiance' " He spoke harshly as he grabbed me by my arm and pulled me close. He was so different from last night. What happened to him? One day is all I got and I can't waste it here..

" Jeez, I was just asking" I mumbled as I struggled to free my arm. What was his problem? His hold was too tight.. Did he forget that I was injured? I sighed as he showed no intention of letting me go.. He loosened his grip as he started to drag me to the room I was staying in or more like his room.

Once we reached there, He pushed me towards the bed and went out of the room locking it behind him. This was not the best spot to be in at this moment. I needed to leave...

I am so sorry, Elaara...I didn't mean to.... I thought, you trusted him....

Its ok, El. You didn't know but just be careful... I did trust him last night but I am not so sure now....

I think, it's got something to do with his necklace. It wasn't there last night.... Was it?

I'm not too sure, I didn't notice that much.. I spoke as I walked towards the windows and looked around to figure my way out of this place. You were so close and you didn't notice...

I was distracted okhay... Don't judge me. I went towards the other door and it was locked. Why are both sides locked?

huh!! Strange...

Try the wall paintings and I'm not judging... just simply curious as to what were you upto last night...

Nothing much... You think the door opens like a secret passage?? Uh-hun-It's a possibility....Ignoring her, I moved the paintings and things around to look for a button. Much to my dismay, there was nothing, no secret buttons nothing.

I can't leave this place at-least not for now. I laid down on the bed dejectedly having nothing else to do. My eyes scanned the mini library as I looked for something to read to distract myself and one book did catch my eye. I got up and tried to get the book that was far from my reach. The cover said The Dark prince and it somehow reminded me of Aehannik. He exactly acted like one Tall, extremely conflicting and dark, and utterly handsome prince.

Sigh-

I tried to put my foot on the shelf to get myself up and closer to the book. You might fall, Elaara. Be careful... I am close El, I stretched my hand. My fingers almost brushed the cover and I lost my footing and fell on the floor with a bang as two three books fell over me. Luckily, I didn't get hurt much this time around. There was another bang that diverted my attention to the door as a few locks slid from the door..

See, it's one of the books, He is definitely smart... Yeah, He is... But what is he hiding to go to this length. The way he came in he didn't even remember that the other door works.

Let's go... What are you waiting for? Yeah, let's go. I picked up the books from the floor only to know that one of the was indeed just a cover and not a book. Putting the books aside, I walked to the door, opening it just enough for me to slide out. I walked down the stairs and ended up at the entrance when he had taken his sweet time opening it. And that was definitely a puzzle, I wouldn't be able to solve. I walked towards the kitchen to get myself something to drink. The place was built for trapping for obvious reasons. There was no way out. I grabbed myself a glass of water and went back up.

The moment I slid inside, I heard the guards, announcing the queen's arrival. I placed the books in their spot hurriedly and jumped on the bed, almost hitting my knee cap in the process, with the book open, lying upside down focusing on some paragraph that I didn't get.

"My love...." The queen spoke as she glided in the room with confidence.

Your Highness...." I got up faking my ignorance because of the book and I continued." I apologize, I didn't hear..."

"No worries, love.. You're still in his clothes, I see" She said in her sickly sweet tone as she looked at me up and down.

"I had nothing else to wear..." I spoke as her hand landed on my shoulder.

"Yes.. and we are going to resolve that problem... " She spoke and clapped as maid in line came in with rails and rails of womenswear and accessories. She was pampering me.

" I am grateful.. your Highness but-" She cut me off and continued

" A Princess should look the part...but let that be-- I have other matters to discuss with you after your ceremony tomorrow. Take care of yourself.. You have a big day tomorrow..." And just like that she left the room. Did she visited me just to tell me that? Did she lock the room behind her? I hoped she didn't... The moment she was out the door and I couldn't hear anyone from the other side I checked. Ofcourse... They weren't going to leave me like that.. She knew exactly what I was... and I only had a hypothesis of what I was. But I was planning to test that theory.. soon enough...

For now, I was getting married tomorrow to a ruthless man who was under someone's influence. He was playing puppets to the queen and what for? I had no idea. But I had to find out. I needed to practice and be ready as much as I could be and I did exactly that practising my fighting poses until it was already night and I got tired and fell asleep.

 "THIRD PERSON PROVISION"

Five bulky men walked towards the dark end of the forest where no-one entered because of the lurking creatures. They were summoned here tonight for a report, a report that was to be given for the events that occured last night. The wind whispered their names again playing with their minds. It was always this scary and they dreaded the part where they had to come to this part of the forest and that too at midnight . It was a deadly creature as a whole and loved playing with it's prey.

" We are at the cursed edge of the forest"One of the five man spoke, more like whispered as his skin crawled making his fear come alive. He was the newest of the crew and was unaware of the lurking dangers. He was a young man in his mid twenties, his body builded enough to take on a bulldozer yet the sweet whispers of the wind crawled on his skin making him scratch his arms like a crazy man.

He was aware of the stories that lurked around regarding this place. A spell had gone wrong by a Psithurist who tried to hold the power of the forest turning everything evil in its wake, killing himself in the process. He thought he definitely deserved what he got.

" Don't listen to them, Kid. That's how you survive this place" Another one spoke from his experience, his hands coverings his ear as they walked farther and farther, deeper and deeper.

"What will we tell-?" The kid spoke to the guy standing next to him as he saw the cabin in sight.

"I'll do the talking... No-one speaks unless spoken too... You know the drill.." The Boss cut him off speaking in his heavy voice. He was a man in his 30's who was leading the mission. Killing was not easy and they needed someone as strong as him to give the orders.

"Keep your eyes open, we are here." They neared the stair of the cabin which was in a pretty rusty condition. The wood had changed color and the place squeaked when stepped onto it.

"Stand Guard..." The Boss ordered as he knocked and went inside with his two minions following right after him.

Once inside the cabin he waited for someone patiently trying his best to tell him what had actually conspired last night. The guards knocked on the door thrice to announce the presence of the other guy. He stood up feeling nervous all of a sudden. He was strong, there was no doubt about it but the man he was meeting had powers and his power wouldn't be able to hold him, no matter how strong he was. Mustering up his courage all at once, He opened the door to meet the intruder. It was time..

" How do you do, Jankom?" An authoritative voice came from the other end as he stepped back and bowed down slightly.

"Your Highness"
