I was running?
Where was I?
The footsteps behind me made me run faster than I ever thought I could. What was happening? Why was there so much darkness? What was I running from? The moon shone on the way guided me to a path I didn't recognize. I was in the forest, all anxious and sweaty. The sneakers beneath my feet made little sound as I hid behind the tree to figure out what I was running from. A man came into view as I held my breath to not get caught. He was huge and tall, his silhouette in the darkness giving away his appearance. I tried to move towards the other side to get a look at his face but before I could his voice teared through the silence.
"Find her" I knew that voice from somewhere.... Kane?? What was he doing here? Was he looking for me? I moved out of my hidden spot to get his attention.
" Kane" I called out and he looked at me. His usual hazel eyes were looking at me trying to... recognize me?? Did he not know who I was? There was something different about the way his eyes darted from my face to something behind my back..
"Find her" He called out again as he looked past me and walked towards me.
"Who are you looking for?" I asked trying to get his attention but it was of no use. I called out his name again but he walked past, farther and farther away from me. I followed after him quickly as he walked through a door that stood in the middle of the two big trees. How was there a door in the middle of the forest? Was this a dream? I anxiously followed him, past the door only to be on a high cliff as heavy wind swooshed around me trying to take me away with it. There, on the edge stood Kane, as he looked down into the fog calling out a name...
"Elziah"
huh...
"Kane, get back" I shouted, feeling scared for him.... he could fall if he moved even an inch.
"ELZiah" He shouted again as the wind blew and before I could comprehend, he jumped...
" KANEEEE..." I called out but he wasn't there. The fog surrounded my vision, tears escaping my eyes as I shouted again...
"KANEEE"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was jolted awake as I looked around trying to figure out where I was...I was basking in darkness again.... Why?? I could feel wetness on my face as tears streamed down constantly.... I was shook to the core... What was that? My heart was pounding loudly in my chest and my head was not even with me....
"Are you okay?" I heard a familiar voice surround me as I looked around trying to adjust to the darkness. The blue eyes stared back at me with tenderness, affection and... anger....?? Was I ok? He switched on the lamp placed on the side table. Sitting on the chair, placed beside the bed, was none other than my bipolar fiance.
"uh.. uh.. yeah!!.. I'm fine.." I said hoarsely, my throat too dry to speak...
"Here" He said as he grabbed a glass of water from the side table and brought it tenderly to my lips and I drank through. His gaze never wavered from mine as he wiped his thumb over my lips to wipe off the excess water.
"What happened?" I asked trying to understand the situation... Wasn't it my wedding today?
"you had a nightmare, whom did you see?" He asked, his eyes still locked with mine.
"I- uh-uh- He..." I was at a loss of words. My head was hurting so badly. I laid back down, not being able to keep myself up. I wondered what the hell happened? How did I end up here? I felt the bed dip as Aehannik adjusted to lay beside me. Shocked, I tried to get up but his hand at my waist held me in place.
"Don't move." He whispered as he positioned himself beside me. I could feel his gaze burning my skin, his intense gaze piercing through my soul. I laid there like a dead body, my heart skipping a beat everytime his hands moved around my waist, his touch leaving a hot trail in its wake. All of my senses, my thoughts were lost in his touch as his fingers moved occasionally to make circles on my waist.
"Who did you see in your dream?" He questioned slowly, his breath tingling my ear as he spoke.
Huh...
"I.. I... don't remember" I mumbled, focusing on my thumping heart...
"Who's Kane?" he whispered again, shifting closer until his hard chest brushed against my arm, his head supported by his hand. I held his gaze as he waited for an answer, his focus entirely on my face, trying to read me. His question reminded me of the dream, but how did he...
Realization dawned upon me. I saw the creases on his forehead build, as he waited patiently for a response. Was he jealous? Of Kane? A giggle escaped my lips at the thought. He raised an eyebrow as I spoke.
"Kane is a friend, just a friend" He just stared at me as I continued "We are in the same class." His intense gaze was making me nervous all of a sudden.
"A guy and a girl can never be friends" His hold on my waist tightened as he spoke
"Are you jealous?" I asked amused by this entire conversation. How did this serious situation turned into something like this? He looked cute with his brows furrowed together as he tried to control the tiny spark of emotion. Before I could process anything, he was on top of me gently pinning me to the bed, his both hands holding my wrists tightly on either side of my face.
"I don't share what's mine, Elaara." he whispered, inching his face closer. His breath mingled with mine as he continued.
"Don't take any other man's name in front of me. Don't go closer to any man. You're mine and mine alone." His lips met with mine in a passionate kiss. He was kissing me!!! He was kissing me!!! His lips moved in perfect harmony with mine as our bodies melded together, and he held me tenderly. He poured all his emotions into that kiss—desire, love, possessiveness, and tenderness.
He gave me a moment to breathe before his lips descended on mine again, stealing my breath with another sensual kiss that was sweet and tender.
"I had wanted to do this for so long." he mumbled against my lips, pressing his forehead to mine as we calmed our electrified breaths. His eyes held mine, filled with an intensity that made my heart race even faster.
Once we had both calmed down, he laid down beside me holding me close as he spoke again "We have to go."
"Where?" I asked out of curiosity as I turned to look at him. He looked so handsome up close. I couldn't believe that I was sharing this intimate moment with him. It was too special for me. I noticed the pendant that he was wearing was no longer glowing.
" Our marking ceremony....." He answered, not intending to move a bit." You fainted, all of a sudden, otherwise it would've been done by now" He explained a little.... At the mention of that, flashbacks of what had transpired came back to me in full motion.
"The Queen..." I mumbled, remembering the last thing I ate was sent from her.
"What about her?" Was it safe to say.... Not until I'm sure... Right??? She was his mother after all. I needed to figure it out and get my facts straight before telling him anything.
"Your pendant, it's different.... It's no longer glowing..." I murmured changing the topic of discussion smoothly.
"It's losing the magic. This is a duplicate... " He explained as he inspected it closely. What did he mean? It did look magical but what kind of power did it hold??
"That's a story for another time, let's go before she barges in..." He replied as if he knew what I was thinking. He still didn't let go of my waist and I loved every single bit of it, the time that we were spending together in each other's arm. I had never thought that this would ever happen to me but everything felt so natural with him, all of these emotion that he showed me, it felt like it was meant to be... I smiled as I tugged at his hand . He groaned in defiance but did let me get out of the bed. I got up as I walked to the bathroom to get myself ready yet for another event.
I gasped in horror at the girl who stared at me through the mirror. I looked horrible. My face was something out of a horror movie.
Swollen eyes from all the crying,
Mascara smeared on my cheeks from the tears,
Swollen lips and smudged lipstick from the kiss.
I smiled to myself remembering how beautiful the moment was. He cared for me. He was sweet, gentle and the way he took me in his arms on the stairs. I hoped he stayed this way forever but my happiness was short lived because the devil appeared as soon as we arrived at the hall for our marking ceremony.
