Chapter 3 - The Boss

Teressa felt like a lamb going to the slaughter as she was called in. She walked slowly, with her lips pressed as tightly as ever and palms sweaty because of nervousness. Well, she just really needed this job. And then again, she didn't have any other job in mind and she didn't apply for any other one so she had to try her best for this one.

Just as she opened the door to enter, her eyes met with three strict-faced people and they looked like they were on a mission to kill. As she stopped right in front of them, they stared at her for some time and she felt like she was in a blinking contest. What was these people's problem?

"Have a sit." The man in the middle said with his face still as stoic as ever. The other two next to him just stared like motionless robots and most of all they all looked like they had facial paralysis.

"You must be Miss Anderson, right? Shall we begin?" The man in the middle said again and Teressa could do nothing but nod her head as she tried to maintain a professional face.

....

Few minutes later, Teressa came out looking drained. Gosh, she entered a literal interrogation room. She almost stuttered a few times but she controlled herself.

'That was lethal' she whispered as she headed to the elevator going downstairs. She took out her phone from her purse to book a cab and then the elevator arrived and she entered inside. She got downstairs, waited for some time for her cab before heading home.

The moment she got inside inside the house, she headed upstairs barely waving at Tina who had just come out of the kitchen probably cooking something. She landed on her bed with a soft sigh as soon as she got into her room kicking off her shoes and throwing her bag to a part of the room as she stretched. Anyone who saw her would think she ran a marathon or something not knowing she just went for an interview. Well, maybe she was a bit lazy but she was serious when needed.

A few hours later, Teressa woke up to the sound of her phone dinging indicating that there was a notification on her phone. She was half asleep as she moved out of bed following the sound the phone made to the couch. She picked it up, opened her e-mail and saw that she had been accepted to work at Greenfield Corps. That was the company she went to for the interview and she was supposed to start.....What? Tomorrow? Then she started to laugh as if all the energy in the world had been gifted to her as she went downstairs screaming in a sing-song manner.

"I have been accepted, I have been accepted. Yeah." She ran towards Tina who was setting the table still screaming as she hugged her like as she was a plushie.

"Guess what?" Teressa asked as she still maintaining the hugging position and Tina just nodded her head as if telling her to go on which made Teressa frown at her lack of enthusiasm.

"You are meant to guess not nod your nod." But Tina just burst into laughter at this.

"That what? You went for an interview and you've been accepted? You were literally screaming all the way down." Tina said as a matter of fact wriggling out of the hug to continue setting the table and Teressa just went to sit down embarrassed after sort of making a fool of herself.

Tina sat down too and suddenly burst out "Congratulations. You got accepted, you got accepted. I am happy for you." And Teressa laughed realizing that Tina just wanted to tease her.

"You little bully. I will get back at you. Wait and see." And then they had dinner in harmony before each of them retired to sleep.

.....

Teressa woke up early the next morning, did all the necessary things and was set and ready to go to work that is until her stomach growled reminding her that she had not eaten this morning.

'Well, I guess I would have to make do with tea this morning' she thought to herself as she headed downstairs only to see the there was already breakfast on the table with Tina coming out of the kitchen. She turned towards Tina as she walked up to her and hugged her, kissing her cheek.

"Have I ever told you that I love you?" Teressa asked playfully as she let go of her and Tina frowned, playing along with the whole script.

"Sorry, I don't do girls so find someone else. Go eat or you would probably go to work on an empty stomach. Your boss wouldn't have a first good impression of you if your stomach suddenly growled while you are talking to him. That would be a very memorable first encounter with your boss." Tina teased and Teressa hurried to finish the food while Tina headed upstairs saying she had already eaten. After eating, Teressa washed the dishes and headed out.

"Tina, I have gone to work. Bye." She said as she slammed the door shut heading to the side of the road to enter the cab she boarded after confirming it was the cab she booked.

As she got to the receptionist, she did the same confirming stuff again because she didn't have an identity card yet. She headed to the second floor again and she saw Alisha there again who then walked up to her.

"You were accepted? I got put in the marketing department because only one person can be hired as the boss' second personal assistant and I am guessing that person is you. But lucky me, I have skills so I fit right in the marketing department." Alisha muttered and Teressa just smiled.

"I think we have to go into the office now." Teressa signaled to the door indicating that they shouldn't be late. They walked into the office, did some necessities like the signing of the contract and a man named Josh who introduced himself as the boss' whose name was Michael's personal assistant took Teressa to the last floor while explaining some things to her while some other man took Alisha to the marketing department to get familiar with her surroundings.

As Teressa and Josh got to the last floor, Josh stopped in front of the door and said "The boss would like to talk to you since you'd be handling some major things so this is where you go in alone."

Teressa sighed as she stared at the door. She was going to the see the mysterious boss. Now, she was really curious to see how he looked like.
