Teressa had her head in piles of documents as she went through them one after the other squinting her eyes when she couldn't see a word clearly and furrowing her brows when she saw some confusing information in some contracts. Some companies would really do anything to strike a deal.
Then she saw a name she didn't really expect to see or probably she wasn't ready to see. Zach. His company was trying to make a barbaric deal with her boss. Like even though she hated her boss, she wasn't going to let this stupid deal go through even though she knew it was still going to get cross-checked after she sent it in. She reassured herself that Zach wouldn't attempt such a shady thing and it was probably one of his workers but even as she told herself that, she couldn't help the doubt that surged in her mind.
She put the file aside with those that weren't going to be accepted and continued checking the other ones. Time passed by like a breeze and Teressa was finally done with her work. She stretched on her chair and let out a tired yawn indicating that she needed rest. She stood up from the chair and immediately she regretted her decision. Her legs were wobbly and it felt as if she was slowly sinking into the ground as something like a surge of electricity passes through her legs.
This was all because of her boss. Her stupid boss. Gosh, she needed to become her own boss quickly. She was tired of having to deal and work with the devil called her boss. Oh yes. She still had to go deliver the files to the boss. She was so happy and excited. Opposite.
She sighed as she headed to her boss' office "Let's get this over with." she thought out loud. She arrived in front of the door and knocked. She heard 'come in' and walked inside with the heavy stack of files in her hands.
"I am done with what you asked me to do boss." Teressa said trying to hide the grumpiness in her tone.
"You know where to drop it." Michael replied watching her facial expression with keen eyes. His eyes flickered with a certain emotion but it was too quick for Teressa couldn't catch it and he was back to the same expression he carried all the time. Stoic and emotionless.
Teressa headed to the same drawer she took it out from in the morning and diligently arranged the files back in. She stood up and walked back to the front of Michael's table. Ahh yes. She was still standing. Her oh so kind boss decided to show his generosity by not offering her a seat. She continued standing there not knowing what to do and worse, Michael continued working like there was no one there and Teressa sighed loudly expecting him to raise his head up and tell her that she could leave but he continued working. She stood there for some more time until she finally couldn't take it.
"Sorry to disturb boss but can I leave?" she said politely but in her mind she was already classifying him with basically every insult she could remember. Sorry to disturb my foot. She was not sorry to disturb at all.
"Didn't I tell you to leave a while ago. Why are you still here?" Michael asked and Teressa just felt all the more frustrated.
"I clearly don't remember you saying so, boss. Anyways I will leave now. Thank you for nothing." Teressa said whispering the last part and trying to sound as nice as possible. She turned on her heels and walked towards the door and leaving a little happier than she was before she came into the office. She left and Michael's eyes followed her till she was out the door.
She walked towards the elevator and sited someone familiar also waiting for the elevator to arrive. Alisha.
"Hey. It's been a while." Teressa grinned trying to start a conversation before the elevator arrived.
"Yeah. Same. I think it's because we've both been busy and by the time we leave work, we will be immensely tired." Alisha said just as the elevator arrived at their floor and they both stepped in.
"How about we grab a late night snack at snack shacks? I've heard of it and it isn't really far from here and they operate 24/7." Teressa said trying to sound as convincing as possible. She hadn't really gone anywhere since she arrived here. Maybe her and Tina might go somewhere on Sunday.
"Sure. That sounds fun. I think I need to think of something apart from work since that's the only thing that has been on my mind these days." Alisha replied and the elevator doors open just as she ended her sentence.
They walked out of the company and headed towards Alisha's car. Teressa entered into the passenger's side and Alisha got into the driver's seat igniting the car's engine by using the car key.
They arrived at the place within a span of 15 minutes and Alisha parked the car and they both got down. They entered into the restaurant and sat down in a nearby booth that was facing outside. The place had a homely feel to it. The soft music playing and the night lights illuminating the entire place.
A woman came to collect their orders and Teressa ordered a burger and a strawberry milkshake while Alisha ordered a mango milkshake and fries. The woman nodded and wrote the orders down before heading back to probably get their orders.
Just then, Teressa's phone buzzed indicating that someone had sent her a message. She opened her phone and looked at who the message was from. Zach. It was an apology message telling her he was sorry for how he behaved and all. She dropped her phone to the side deciding that she would text him later.
"Who was that?" Alisha asked curiously and Teressa replied with a straight face.
"My boyfriend." Alisha nodded and Teressa glanced at her phone for a quick second and she didn't notice that Alisha's expression had changed into one of jealousy before returning to normal like nothing had happened.
A/N: Who else thinks Alisha is up to no good or are we misreading the signs?
