Chapter 14 - Not the speed

'Just be calm…' He kept repeating those words in his head like a mantra.

Just as he was about to knock, a deep voice rang out from behind the brown door. "Come in."

Harry gently opened the door and then stepped into the well-furnished office.

He then noticed something odd, the principal was smiling at him. Harry's brows squinted slightly when he noticed this, why would the principal of vane academy be smiling at him?

The principal who was known as Randy was a very powerful earth elemental mage. He was the most powerful mage in the academy, he used to be an adventurer before the AMO transferred him to down to Vernil to head Vane magical academy.

He had pitch-black hair along with dark brown eyes. He was quite handsome with a rugged face and a thick beard that stretched down to his neck, something all students in the academy related to his earth affinity.

He repositioned himself on his office chair as he stared at Harry. A sad smile appeared on his face as he said, "Harry Morton, I called you here because of the mana beast attack. The Academy was informed that you were one of the victims…"

'Ohh, so that's why I was called.' Harry thought. His mind finally calmed down as he realized he wasn't called to receive any punishment. 'And that was probably the reason I was getting those weird stares.'

However, a part of him felt it wasn't just because he was a victim of a mana beast attack, he felt it was due to the appearance of the AMO or rather the white-haired man.

He wasn't even stupid enough to believe the principal's apology was true, an academy that didn't care when he got beaten in the hallway… why would they care if he was a victim of a mana beast attack?

"Sit…" The principal said while gesturing for Harry to take a seat on one of the chairs in the office.

"No… need sir… I'm fine with standing." Harry politely declined the offer.

A strange expression flashed through Randy's eyes for a moment before finally disappearing like it was never there. "Ohh… that's fine. The academy got Information that you were a victim of a mana beast attack, We just want to say we are really sorry… about the attack. So how are you doing?" The principal asked.

Even though he managed to say this with a simple smile, his mind was in a turmoil as different thoughts kept running through it.

'How the hell did he come across the AMO, he even got treated by a grand mage. I don't want any trouble...' Randy thought.

Since he was the principal of the academy Harry was attending, it was only natural that the AMO would contact him about the involvement of one of the academy's students in a mana beast attack.

He had a close friend in the adventurer mages organization whose name was Terry, Terry was the one who told him about the involvement of a grand mage in Harry's 'case' and also about the beast's death. However, Randy didn't care about the death of any beast, the only thing that caught his mind was the grand mage.

He was inwardly panicking at the thought that Harry might still be watched by the grand mage. He knew how Harry was treated in the academy… and it couldn't really be described as right.

Grand mages were huge powerhouses that even Randy—a full-fledged mage—couldn't go against.

Harry's brows furrowed as he stared at the principal. He simply stood for a few seconds without replying. 'Why is he being so nice? It's almost like the academy truly cares…' he said inwardly.

"I'm fine… I was treated by the AMO so… I have no injuries and I don't feel any pain." Harry said.

"Ohh. How about mentally… you don't have any trauma or any… strange visions…" Randy said.

"Trauma… I'm completely fine." Harry said.

The principal's eyes flickered strangely when he heard Harry's words. He stared at Harry for a few seconds before sighing. 'He doesn't seem to be lying… but yet there's no way he wouldn't get any trauma from an incident like that.'

When a person encounters a mana beast, they may suffer not only physical harm but also psychological harm.

This was due to the amount of bloodlust present in mana beasts, normal human beings were known to be mentally weak to bloodlust.

Since the amount and density of bloodlust depend purely on the number of living things killed, it was worse in older and stronger mana beasts.

And yet, Harry was attacked by a stage four mana beast which meant he should have been mentally shaken the bloodlust but instead he seemed to be okay—Even the students of the academy weren't mentally strong enough to handle the bloodlust of a peak stage four mana beast.

However, what Harry didn't know was that Nate(the grand mage) used a mind clearing spell on him which assisted him mentally, coupled with the system that boosted his mental strength.

"The academy has decided you take a one-week break… to deal with everything. If you still don't feel okay to resume, just let us know and we'll extend it." The principal said. He still didn't believe Harry was completely fine—at least mentally—having him resume a day after a mana beast attack wasn't the right decision to take.

"I don't think that's necessary, I'm already healed and my body is back to peak condition. I don't need to take any break." Harry said.

"The academy is just trying to take safety measures. Just go on the break and relieve yourself from the trauma." Randy said calmly.

Harry knew that no matter how much he tried to argue that he was fine, the principal wouldn't change his mind.

"Okay sir, thanks for your care and support," Harry said, slightly emphasizing the 'care and support'. He then slowly turned around before finally leaving the office.

The academy's principal simply nodded his head, he sighed and then relaxed on his chair.

'At least one potential problem with a grand mage is solved.' He thought while wiping his imaginary sweat.

As Harry walked out of the instructor's block, he kept thinking about the break given to him by the academy. 'This could be a good opportunity for me to focus on the system's quest, and also focus on levelling up.'

He looked at his stats, a smile spread across his face as he noticed the difference between his current stats and his former stats—although the difference was not that much, he was still proud of it.

Harry slowed down In his steps before finally stopping. His eyes squinted slightly, perhaps due to his increased perception, he was able to feel a familiar gaze on his back.

He turned around, his gaze met that of a certain blue-haired student. It was as if time stopped as they both stared at each other without blinking.

The blue-haired student had a crooked and smug smile on his face as he glared at Harry.

Harry noticed the smug expression on Han's face but this time, he wasn't scared—not even in the slightest bit. Instead, he replied with a sinister smile of his own before finally turning around.

Han didn't know why but the moment he saw Harry's smile, he felt a chill run down his spine. 'What is that I just felt now? Isn't that the same trash… Harry? How dare he?' Han thought.

He felt a strange sense of inferiority when he looked into Harry's eyes and that only made him angrier.

'You just wait Harry… do you think we are on the same level?' He said inwardly. His gaze remained on Harry as he watched him stop at the entrance of the academy. He tightly clenched his fists when he realized Harry wasn't even paying him any attention.

Harry, not knowing Han's thoughts, prepared himself to activate accelerate once more.

'Activate accelerate.' He said inwardly. Just like the last time, a warm refreshed feeling spread around his body as he felt his body get lighter. A smile appeared on his face as he ran out of the academy.

Han was about to turn around and ignore Harry until he suddenly saw the speed at which Harry was running—A speed he was having a hard time following or rather one he couldn't follow at all.

Only one thought came to his mind, 'that is not the speed of a normal person.'
