John rushed to the Highland Forest. While John was in the middle of the way, Ryan called him through the mind link.
'Son, where are you? Come to our house soon.'
'For what?'
'I want to discuss the succession. I think I'll send an announcement one or two years from now, depending on when you have been ready.'
John would leap in joy if he weren't worried about Sophia. But now, he only said, 'Father, I'm busy. I'll go to your place soon after I can.' Then he closed the mind link.
He climbed a giant tree near the Moon Band pack area and breathed deeply as his longing filled his heart. 'Sophia, are you okay? I miss you, but there are four days left before we meet. I hope I can see you now.' John smiled as he imagined Sophia's sweet smile.
But he wasn't ready for what would happen next. He heard a female's voice screaming. The screaming was so loud and clear as it was still morning and a quiet day.
"Sophia! My pup …."
